locking brief case 4 transporting a pistol

hello folks, long time reader first time topic bringing upper...

i just got my first pistol today :dancingbanana: and im in need o a case im wanting to go 2 the range 2morrow and all i can fight is a brief case. i was wondering if it will legally work as i cant get a pistol case till tomorrow afternoon.

I'm gunna say yes as it is a lockable, non-transparent sturdy case. just throw a trigger lock on the pistol and you should be good 2 go.

From RCMP website:
Transporting Restricted Firearms:
* Unload the firearms; and
* Attach a secure locking device to the firearms; and
* Lock the firearms in a sturdy, non-transparent container; and
* Remove the bolt or bolt carrier from any automatic firearms (if removable).
* Obtain an Authorization to Transport (call 1 800 731-4000).
 
Get some foam so your handgun won't rattle around. I use a Samsonite that I picked up from a garage sale and scrounged up the foam from work.....
 
They sell some "tool" briefcase at Canadiantire. Lockable and there is foam inside that you can cut to the size of your pistol. 50$ if I remember correctly.

Well if you are gonna do that.....just buy the pistol case....i can squeez 3 in mine from CT and think its $30
 
A lockable brief case is better than a pistol case. Why? Because it complies with the legal definition of an acceptable container, but it doesn't look like something a pistol thief would look for.

I have an old Dewalt drill case modified to fit my pistol. So the neighbor's "just visiting between stays at the jail" kid thinks I'm just going to help someone build a deck.;)

Some fellas even use the cheap red metal tool boxes and stick some foam in there.
I use a Dillon range bag, the bag is locked and the pistols are locked.
Everything else goes in there as well.....

Most are right here, anything that is lockable and doesn't look like a gun case is almost always cheaper and almost always better as it doesn't look the part and 'scare' folks.
 
One of those flat plastic pistol cases will hold one, two or four guns, depending on size. I use combination trigger locks on my pistols, so am not at risk for leaving the key at home. I have discovered that the same lock will also lock the pistol case.

He could use a gun case but put a Black and Decker sticker on it.
