Not pissing really. Would you really want to be stuck using this or loaning it out to someone for predator protection.... Do you trust it to work, or is what you are protecting just worth a little over $130.
I am not pissing on buying one, I am questioning weather a sane person would actually risk ......

Well in the 12ga department, I do have one Remington 870 and two Mossbergs... so I think I'm doing my part
Well fine... if you are solely talking about personal protection, maybe spending some more cash is warranted... but as a guys 2nd or 5th or as a range toy or something to lend to buddies to get them into the sport...is this really that bad? Heck even as a first shotty like me, just to get into one this cheap to see if its something i really want to get into...is it really that bad?
Aren't we slightly sliding off topic though. Socially conscious discussions about buying Canadian-made consumption products is important (and, believe me, I do buy things with a little maple leaf on the box as much as I can), but - correct me if I'm wrong - I do believe this thread is more about the 780 shotgun (that SFRC got to us at a really low price) and how it performs. Anyone shot a few hundred rounds with it yet? It won't be before a week, at least, for me... argh, the wait!

If I felt I needed something for personal protection I probably wouldn't buy this. I don't need personal protection and I feel any issues a man has with another man can be solved without weapons. This is a cheap blastorama that'll look pretty next to my old abused SKS, which is nothing more than a cheap milk jug destroyer. Are you getting it now?

If/When I have buddies cool enough to casually toss a pump my way AND, I haven't anything...willing to "hop" into predator land...
I'm waiting for the pics to see if you can slap duck barrels on 'em!

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!
I don't have an 870 to compare it to, but I'd hope to do a comprehensive teardown, grab the micrometer, figure out what's what and post the pix. All I want is a forearm/flashlight combo and a sidesaddle, followed by several flats of the cheapest crap I can lob through it to smooth it up.
Still no word regarding what is meant by "problems arising after a while". I assume something either isn't properly staked into place and gradually works loose, or is rough and wears something else out?
And by way of penance, I plan on covering myself in maple syrup and using my new uglygun to club a wee seal to death, all while singing "Summer of '69". Can I keep my passport now?

I just got mine today and I have been having problems straight out of the box.
The shell loading arm is hitting the slide rails if I want to insert a round. I might just have to bend the part thats hitting the rail for clean arm movement.
And I can't seem to pull out the bolt along with the rail. I've been pressing down on the shell stop every time but it still won't come out.
Otherwise it's a steal. The finish isn't too bad but the bang for buck as it is currently is well worth it. We just need to see how many rounds it can shoot before it starts to have problems.

Well.... I can think of a couple:
1. I'm a broke a$$ student, and as much as I would love that to change, it's not gonna happen for at least another two years... So this gives me the opportunity to get a shotgun, and one for my wife, NOW, so we can start shooting them NOW, not 2 years down the road.
2. My wife's shotgun is going to be getting repainted in short order, in fairly ... uhh... irregular colours... would be a real shame to take a nice gun and gum it up with all kinds of paint...
3. I'm not even sure that "Buy American" always equates with "Buy Quality", which is something I always try to do when I can afford to...
While I would absolutely prefer a remington 870/mossberg 590A1 to this, it's not in the cards for me in the near future... so my options are these guns, or nothing... take your pick... I took mine.

I loaded the mag on my two shotguns and cycled them through the action. They fed and ejected just fine.
I test fired them with slugs. Both printed about 12" high. If I install one of those fibre optic bright front sights, it would shoot POA, I suspect.
On one of them the shell plate flapper hangs up on the rails, preventing loading. It can be wiggled, to make it clear. I took the trigger grup off by knocking out the two pins and bent the vertical sides of the shell plate in a bit so they did not hit the rail. Seems to work.
I would not use this gun in a situation where it had to be loaded in an emegency situation. The other is just fine.
I took guns apart, smoothed the sharp edges, lubed with moly grease and put back together. Both are a bit smoother, but not as smooth as my Remington.
But smooth enough for me to be pleased with them.

I still have about 30 of the guns left. I also have three parts guns (feed ramp is catching on the follower) that I couldn't fix in the 5 mins I gave each gun to function test it. Probably an easy fix, I just don't have time to do it. Great gun for tinkering or spare parts. They are complete guns. $112.50.

The Mossberg Maverick 88 can be had around $200, and that's a real gun, that will work out of the box, and twenty years from now too. Furthermore, it was built by people who have homes, a vehicle, a family, and a lifestyle we'd recognize under a system we'd recognize; democracy. The guns also have a warranty from these people.
There was a time, sadly very recently, when people could put down an urge to have a piece of sh1t today in favour of saving for something real down the road. Guns are sentimental things, something where I demand absolute quality and reliability over all things and enjoy using the same gun year after year. Sadly, pathetically, many people in our sport are now of the disposable item Walmart mentality. If a guy can't save the extra $75 for a Mossberg, or $200 for a Remington, he has bigger problems than his fondness for socialist made garbage products. Ya ya, I'll get people who might say 'I can't get a Mossberg in this barrel length'. Well buy Remington. This same dealer was offering new 14" Remington barrels for around 200 bucks. Dlask is also a Canadian manufacturer who needs our support and strengthens our sport, that makes very high quality barrels in any length you want; 12", 14", you name it.
But there are those who smile holding garbage that flies in the face of these people, and builders. Soon, if there isn't already even, there will be sh1t knockoffs of Dlask's own innovations, undercutting a homegrown firearms manufacturer on his own design, the 8.5" Rem 870 he popularized. Pathetic that dealers will stoop that low, but they're bound to. Buy what you want, I doubt anybody will listen to what I have to say here. Our grandparents would have understood and you can bet they'd have left the Chinese garbage at the store. Perhaps that's the pathetic change I'm seeing, it's certainly not the guns, it's us. This issue makes me so angry... Soon enough we won't make anything for ourselves in North America. You and your girlfriend enjoy your pot metal toys, but one day you'll see what I mean.
