What is the most compact LEGAL Restricted, not prohibited, pistol available in Canada?....caliber does not really matter, I am guessing 9mm might be the best but not sure. Not really sure what is available to us other than the Glock 19 with a Glock 17 barrel.....

The Colt Lightweight [aluminum frame] Commander in .45 ACP has a factory 4.25" barrel which makes it a fairly compact, light & yet only restricted pistol that still packs a good punch.

NAA.

Consider the Glock 19, 23, 26, 27, and 30, the SigSauer P239 tactical and 1911 RCS, the H&K P2000, the STI Ranger II, and the Ruger SR9.

Other options are the SigSauer P225 (which is available used), the H&K P7M8 (which is way more expensive), and the S&W M&P9, the STI GP6, and Glock 17, 22, 31 (which are all somewhat larger).

I like the Glock 19.

If I had to actual carry and could only choose a Canadian legal pistol.

Sig 239 would be my choice!

A close second is the Glock 26 is nice but the barrel sticks out so far it looks goofy, and the Glock frame and slide are bulky.

I don't get why everyone is calling the HK P7 a compact gun. Yeah it has a short barrel but it is a pretty large gun! And I have actually held and fired it, not just looked at internet pictures!

Yes I handled one and didn't get the thrill! If concealment is the issue, then barrel length shouldn't matter since it's easy to hide.
It's the grip that will give you away the way I see it.

Thats why the sig wins for me. Short and very thin grip, with a single stack 9mm mag.

The glock has a short grip but it is a wide gun, even in it's compact form!

Depending on the application there is a few others that would be better options for concealability, but if we are also considering guns that are fun to shoot at the range than that is a different story.

There is the NAA revolvers, and Snake Slayer from Kodiak Outpost.

There is also the Phoenix arms .22 from Arms East.
