Hello

"before I get flamed, I did use the search engine on this site before asking this question"

I am looking for a firing range that rents hand guns in Ottawa. I know some in Montreal but can`t seem to find some in Ottawa.
I know about the RA center but they don`t rent guns and you have to join their gun club to shoot.

Thanks

J

To my knowledge there are no commercial ranges in the Ottawa area that rent firearms of any kind. The RA is the only club I am aware of that even has club-owned firearms and you have to be a member to shoot there.

The Stittsville Shooting Range is the only commercial range operation in the area and while you can pay to shoot shotgun and rifle (with your own firearms) you must be a member of their handgun club to be able to shoot handgun (again with your own firearm).

If you want to shoot handgun in this part of the country you will have to obtain your restricted PAL, obtain a restricted firearm, join a shooting club, take the club handgun safety course and eventually obtain your ATT that will allow you to take your firearm to any CFO-approved range in Ontario.

restricted PAL= got it

if I join a gun club can I bring someone as a guess if they don`t have there PAL and get there ATT ?

Some clubs may allow members to bring guests to the range and allow them to shoot under the direct supervision of the member. You would have to check this out with any club that you may be thinking of joining.

EOHC allows this, but direct supervision means you don't get to shoot at the same time... you watch he shoots, he watches you shoot. A guest should think about joining the club, if he is going to come out a lot.

What's the event?? In the past the RA has been aaproached by various orgs to do a days shooting (Scouts etc) and they have considered renting the range. Ask the comittee.
