Tikka T3 in .308

Hey,
I have spent a few years with my Tikka HB .223 and love it to death. I need a hunting rifle, and everything I have looked at in the same price range ($900'ish) seems to fall short. I havent found an action as smooth or a finish as nice. The accuracy out of the box is matched by a few others, but nothing seems to beat it outright. Before I go buy it tomorrow, does anyone have any last minute suggestions? It will be for Vancouver Island deer, in .308 and it needs to be accurate and fairly light.

I have a lefty T3 in 308 and had the tube cut to 20 inches. Smoking accurate!

I have a T3 in .338 federal ( a .308 that has been eating a McDonald's) and it is a fine rifle.

If you can't find a Tikka, Browning makes a good gun too...! Smooth, reliable and accurate.

Got the Tikka. I held everything else they had in the store and nothing felt as good, IMO. I couldnt be happier. Thanks for the help.

good choice. i bought a t3 light in .223 this year. it's a great gun but i still wish i would have bought a .308. (i'm a 308 fan) have parker hale in 308. works great but i like the tikka. i held a bunch of different guns in the store but the tikka felt the best so that's what i bought.

I would've recommended the T3 Hunter as I personally prefer wood (including laminated). However, noting that you are in BC it may be best to go with the T3 Lite or Laminate considering the weather conditions there.

My T3 Hunter, a .270 Win groups 2in @ 100 yds shooting off-hand with open sights....I believe that someone younger than I and with more steady form (and eyesight) could do far better with this rifle.

One of the only rifles I liked more than the Tikka was the Sako 85 Finnlight. But sitting at almost twice the price, I am more than happy with my Tikka.

I just picked up a Tikka T3 lite in .243 for much the same reasons. It just felt right and I couldn't get over how smooth the bolt action was.

Right out of the box with in the first 23 rounds I shot a group of 0.4835" with of the shelf Hornady SST 165 grain. It also double printed with 2 different type's of ammo. Plus to boot it comes with intergeral scope base witch means it's 1 less thing for ya to worry about buying.

Im also a T/C Fan. I have bin looking at the Icon in 243 real nice gun and alot of attention went into it. I wonder if he looked at one. I know it's to late now. He bought a good gun but in the future since we can't just have one gun check it out. Take Care
