Want to try get accuracy out to 1000 with mine, In increments and of course practice, have others done this?

Or am I smokin the good stuff??

To me with the right load I figure it is feasible.

Any opinion good or bad are welcome.

Not thinking of competing this is just for ####s and giggles.

Oh, it'll certainly get there....

What bullet weight are you shooting? I had real good luck (only to 700 tho, range limit) with 162 Amax's in a 7mmRM. Don't know if you're 7-08 might be a hair slow for that weight at that range or not offhand, in terms of precision. You'll need lots of clicks in your scope too.

EDIT thought about it some more, if a .308 can lob a 168 gr that far, no reason the (essentially) same powder charge won't get a 162 there.

All my equipment has the capacities to do the work. My hunting load(150grain bullet) is super sonic to 1300 yards. So I figure that with a 150 to 168 in whatever bullet is most accurate and best BC it should be able to do it. In my mind of course.

FYI 26" barrel and 9" twist

I have a custom 7-08 with a 21" barrel that I shoot at 1000 all the time. It groups about .75 moa. I use a redding bushing neck die,Win brass,Fed 210m primer, 47gr Win 760 and a 140gr berger @2850fps

Most guys figure the 7mm-08 won't drive heavier bullets fast enough to do well at long range. It will. Depending upon barrel length, one can exceed 2700 fps with 162's and this is certainly adequate. Regards, Bill.

Just putting it out there - If the 308 can do it, the 7mm08 definitely can. If everything else is the same, the 7mm round simply has less air resistance from less frontal profile. Better ballistic coefficient is hard to beat.

7mm-08 for 1000 yds.

Why not? A 45-70 will get out to 1000 and beyond if you put enough elevation into the shots. Get some 20 MOA bases and have fun with it. Bullets in the 145-155 gr class would probably stay supersonic past 1000 yds.
