I saw a Toronto Star (print-version, GTA section) picture of a reservist with the 48th Highlanders at the Queen's Park ceremony :canadaFlag: , and, in his hands, a full-wood Ross rifle.....:)....it (the rifle from the pic in The Toronto Star) seemed to be missing its bolt, though.....which was weird, b/c The Toronto Sun's pictures showed Ross rifles with bolts still in the rifles?........:yingyang:

Didn't see the Star photo but this is the first year a Ross has been used. It's been a No 1 MkIII* for the WW1 sentry up until last year. A nice touch. I'm not sure if the Regimental museum owns it.

BTW, the "spectator" in the one pic is Honourary Colonel Geordie Beal , taking the salute.

Lol - someone should go up to the guard and loan him their bolt :p

Edit - looked at the pics - the ross has it's bolt ...? There's a pic of a gun I can't identify that might be mistaken for a ross, but has full wood on top of the barrel to the muzzle.

The pics from the Toronto Sun had the bolts in the rifles....:yingyang:....the one w/o a bolt was featured in The Toronto Star....;)

The sgts mess had two on the wall when i was there, both marked 6th Batt RCR

Those two were gotten from Century Arms in Montreal back in the 80s and were drilled sideways through the chamber. They simply bolted them through the holes and mounted them above the old bar before they renovated.

The sentry in white shell carries a Snider.
