204 cal

I've had 2 and love them both. They are both very accurate and were easy to load for. I had a Remington, it was a nice gun but I wanted a detachible mag so I bought a Tikka. I would buy another one in a second. As far as reloading the cost is about the same as a 223 with similar components.

I think you'd have trouble finding a rifle made by whom ever that wasn't a good shooter. From the least expensive single shots to exp. HS Precisions this caliber seems to shoot. Always easier to give a fellow purchasing advice if we know how much he has a budget for. I have a CZ 527 Varmint and have a great load with Varget and the Nosler Blitz 39 gr bullet. FS

thinking of buying a .204 cal gun not sure which brand any comments on cal type of gun and reloading costs thanks

I had been shooting a Rem 700BDL bull barrel in 22-250 for years...and thought it shot pretty good, but after buying a Savage Predator in .204 Ruger, I had to rethink accuracy

This was yesterday at Stittsville, cold, rain and windy...but had fun at 200yds anyway :D

my cousin switched to 204 down south of medicine hat where shots are alll long super long, hasn't missed a thing yet, headshots on badgers even work great. uses Tikka T3 and absolutely loves the gun, had a friend work up a load, and literally hasn't missed anything under 350 yards yet. coyotes, gophes, badges and porcupines.

204

love this calibre and rifle, with my handloads i put 4 shots in same hole with rest and have taken yotes from 25 to 400 yards , gohers at 316 yards one shot. great gun , mines a reg rem sps varmint. i use 32 gr sierras coming out of the barrel mach chicken speed -4125 fps. and its quiet enough not to spook the dumber yotes. im a 204 fan

actually it would be a .2 " group not .0 . no i dont have pics or my calipers, i just know it doesnt get much better now im trying to match this loadaccuracy and do the same to my other varmint rifle/long range rifle , im looking at it now and it might be .3 of a inch. looks like one of them (or more caught the main hole a little towards down)

Actually no..you take your group size and subtract the caliber..to get the group size..both groups are .185" ish ..

groups

ok , ive never done that, i thought you measured center to center ,farthest, but your sure thats how you measure your groups seems odd, come to think about it i was wondering how people got sub 30 grouping on a 308. k i got my 204 target here i ll calipre it minus .2 . ok its .298 so .098 with your way i guess. 4 shots , using 29.5 gr of varget ,32 gr blitking, 4125 fps. its my most accurate load, but i just measured my other best and with your subtract the calibre method its 3 shots that groups 1.212" at 600 yards! . ill probably never shoot that again. both were in my leadsled. always test loads in it and the 600 yarder it was first time shooting long with a considerable wind, full value, usually i use a bipod but had 0 exp with wind, 2 years ago. i run varget in my 308 as well, used to put benchmark in the 204, decided to try something different and got the perfect group.

Back when the .204 was relatively new I bought a NEF to try the caliber out.

Even in an inexpensive H&R product the results were good.
This 3 shot group was @ 92yds.That's all I can get out of the range at the yard because of trees and a pasture fence.
32gr Hornady V-Max over 26gr of 4064-not a speed demon but accuracy is good. :)

I cheated and used a rear bag too...
*On a side note my buddy bought the same rifle and achieved similar results.

Great Group,is your 204 a single shot?

I have two: a Remington 700 VLS that has been customised with a Pac-Nor Super Match 1-10 twist barrel, that I use on the bench, and a CZ 527 American that I take hunting. Love the cartridge.
