GSG 1911 with DLASK trigger job (now with CT grips)

Wow....

How the hell does this thing cost so little? It feels as sturdy as any 1911 I have held. I think I finally found the .22 I won't sell! I don't know what the trigger is like without the dlask triggerjob, but it is really sweet with it (and only 65 bucks). The only minorly annoying thing is the extra screw needed for take down. If anyone was on the fence about these then I would say get off the fence and buy one! I like it so much, I may even throw my crimson trace grips on it and make it the ultimate "bring a new shooter to the range for a good time gun!"

Confirm

I am apprehensive about ordering one. Multple reviews on this site and youtube vids show them to be fussy about ammo. I like my $22 a bx habit and do not want to change.

Honestly, that's the first I have heard of the GSG's being fussy... Mine shoots anything that I run through it. My ammo of choice is Federal 525 bulk packs and American Eagle. Both are cheapo brands but function very well in my GSG. A buddy bought one a few days after I did and his runs exactly like mine. Maybe the guys witht he negative reviews aren't familiar with lubricating the rails of a 1911...? I dunno... but anyone that I have talked to loves their GSG as much as I do! I'd say buy one and don't worry. This is certainly not a repeat of the introduction of the Sig Mosquito. The GSG .22 1911 is an awesome gun for the money.

Mine's got ~ 1,000 rounds thru it so far. Mostly, econo American Eagle hi-vel 40 gr round nose lead. [Also, fired Remington Thunderbolt, old Imperial hi-vel 40 gr plated, Winchester Wildcat & some old Win Super X] Mine runs like a champ with American Eagle so I just bought another brick of it. I do plan on trying it with some "bulk pack" Federal "Champion" ammo though. It's the same price for 525 rounds as 500 rounds of the American Eagle at my local shop.

The only things I have replaced on mine are the wood grips for soft Hogue grip panels and I replaced the non-steel barrel bushing with a steel Colt bushing. The trigger was fine right out of the box. I put on the highest front site and adjusted my rear site slightly over to the left and it shoots right on point of aim now.

I am very happy with my GSG 1911 .22lr and am planning on getting a second one at some point.

Where can one find a steel barrel bushing? I heard on one review the that grip safety can be fussy to engage. Any truth to that? How hard is it to disable the grip and the magazine safety?

If you buy a new one you should get a steel bushing. But if you have an old one, you can contact Blue Line for a new replacement bushing or just buy a steel one from any dealer/gunsmith that sells 1911 parts. Marstar sells a decent one for about $15.

The grip safety, like all grip safeties lacking a "memory bump" doesn't respond too well to a high-hand hold and requires a fairly firm grip to fully engage. If it presents a problem for you, you can always either pin it down or swap it out for a drop in grip safety from any one of the numerous aftermarket 1911 parts manufacturers. Some minor fitting may be required of course, so if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, have your local gunsmith install it.

As for the mag safety, I haven't done mine yet but those who have say it is easy enough to take care of. I should get to mine this weekend.

Standard steel 1911 barrel bushings are a very common part. Most outlets selling 1911 parts will have standard steel 1911/1911A1 barrel bushings in stock.

On the grip safety issue.... I'm not convinced that it is an issue of being "fussy to engage" as much as those using a GSG 1911 .22lr ensure that they take up a "solid grip" on their frame [and thereby fully engaging the grip safety when doing so]. The slide of the GSG 1911 .22 is a lot lighter than a standard 1911A1 in .45ACP, therefore to correctly function the slide has to have a firm platform to recoil back against when shooting. If you don't take up a firm grip usually one or both of the following will happen (1) you will not fully disengage the grip safety and the pistol will fail to fire +/or (2) you will be "limp wristing" your pistol, and the lighter slide will not have a solid platform to recoil back against when functioning, causing ammo misfeeds [ie. stove pipe type ammo malfunctions]. I saw this happen with a new GSG 1911 owner that was shooting next to me at the range. He was having stove pipe issues even though he was using factory fresh hi-vel ammo. He shot & got stove pipes. I shot mine and it ran like a champ. He thought maybe it was a "mag" issue, so I tried his mag in my GSG and it worked fine. I then tried his GSG and it shot fine. He changed his grip and then his ran fine after that.

Personally, I see no need to disable the grip safety or the mag safety in the GSG 1911 .22's. Mine "works" for me just as issued with those features...... However, that is a choice that some will make as they "personalize" their pistols [for example to change out their mainspring housing.... etc].

I've ran the federal champion bulk pack and the blazer bulk pack thru my gsg, they all worked fine....

The ammo was from cdn tire
 
OK thanks, I was unable to locate the you tube and articles I found and also cannot find anything new that is seriously negative. I will again consider it without apprehension based on your reports. Appreciate the input.

You can order them straight from Dlask Arms, the trigger job is done on their way out the door. :cool:

Dlask sells the GSG pistols and offers them with or without a trigger job. Of course, they will also be more than happy to work on your existing gun if you like.
 
I've had mine for about a month and it performs perfectly. What an excellent deal. The only thing I want to change is the beavertail grip safety. Yes, they are the "in thing" but I hate the look of it. I want to replace it with an extended wide combat grip safety but I can't find anybody that sells them North of the border and anybody South of the border won't ship one; including Brownells. Any advice would be appreciated.

Like some posters above stated, I ordered from them. It saves a lot in shipping back and forth and the upfront cost was the same.

Fussy... I did CCI ... Federal.. winchester... remenigton.. all chewed up and spat out... ;)

Blue line doesn't send them to Dlask... they just are the only imported of GSG 1911 Dlask is a seperate company that buys them from blue line..
 
I settled on high velocity ammo in mine. Had a few jams with regular ammo, but not since switching to high-velocity, I'm finishing my 3rd brick from LeBaron.

Grip safety is an issue if you have skinny hands like I do. There's just not enough 'meat' to have the GS engaged.

I got mine from BlueLine, so its the original trigger. I wonder if anyone has had a before & after experience to comment on Dlask trigger job. I'm happy with mine, but the grass is always greener, you know where... ;)
