.303 British Varmint round?

This is a long shot, but Im wondering if anyone has had any success loading a varmint-purposed load in .303 British. By this I mean something that isnt going to blast the bejesus out of a yote - neat hole in, no hole out. Little to no pelt damage.

Pretty tall order for a .30-cal centerfire, but I thought I'd ask.
 
FMJ's are probably the way to go. Baring that, I'd go with whatever you use for hunting. I think, with the odd exception, most bullets won't encounter enough resistance in a Coyotes body to really damage the pelt.
 
Any .303 will go right through a coyote. You'd best check your local hunting regs about using milsurp. Isn't legal for hunting anything, everywhere. Ontario is silent about 'em. Alberta is not. Mind you, they say that for big game only.
Commercial FMJ's aren't the same thing. Jackets are thinner. A match grade bullet will do nicely, but you need to slug your barrel. Sierra and Speer make .311" bullets. Hornady 174 grain FMJBT's are .3105". Their SP's are .312".
A 125 or 123 grain 7.62 x 39 bullet might do. SP's mostly that are .310". .311" Pro-Hunter from Sierra.
 
Just sneak up on them at night when they are sleeping and stab them with your bayonet, you wont have the noise of a gun shot waking up the neighbours.

You Canadians will have to use the Red Green method and remount the light further back with some duct tape.

The load I think you are looking for is a 125 grain sierra prohunter .311 bullet which i load with Reloder 7 ( I'll have to look up the charge weight in my book at work) and it flies at a hair over 2800fps and very flat.

The market for coyote fur is ZERO so just blow holes in them and feed the ravens.They aren't worth the postage to send to market................lots of mange in AB this year.....Harold

Don't listen to this guy, there's not a non-feral animal on this continent we should just waste. Save your pelts for better times if you're worried.
