On one of my threads I was pompously referred to as uneducated because I agree that there is something wrong with the 600 and 700 triggers until recently. I am an educated researcher of this problem and resent people who consider research as watching Remington's video response.

So how are your 700's? Have you experienced any of the 'problems' you talk about? Do you have any first hand knowledge of a 700 with one of these 'problems'? In over 40 years of actively gunsmithing the only malfunctioning triggers on 700 rifles I have encountered were badly adjusted ones or rusty, dirty ones not from the factory... so if I have to take a side on this 'issue' I will not be siding with the lawyer pushing this...

I am all for greater safety and I do think that anyone taking possession of any rifle should test it to see if it functions as it is supposed to... not just Remingtons.

It’s interesting to note that there are a total of 75 lawsuits filed alleging that a Remington 700 rifle had fired without the trigger being pulled. Even if true, by the numbers, that means that 0.0015% of all of the rifles produced over the years have had a problem. Put another way, 99.9985% of all of the Model 700 rifles produced DO NOT have a faulty trigger. Are numbers like these indicative of an inherent design flaw? One would suspect that if there was a design flaw that it would be found in every Remington Model 700, or at least a more than 75.

You do realize that Mr Belk recently admitted under oath in court that he could not replicate ANY of the accidental discharges that he credits the design with? Mr Belk's can only continue to profit financially if he keeps flogging this supposed design flaw.

At the end of the day though Bob I really suggest that you don't buy a Remington at all as it seems that you will never feel safe with one in your hands.
 
Dennis maybe we should not :feedTroll: You know a guy with 50 or 60 odd posts and has seen the CNBC media blitz on a problem of yesterday is somehow an expert himself.
Having said that...I used to own a 700 .270 Mnt Rifle in the 80's and had the trigger worked on .
Never had an issue with it and my buddy who owns it now does not have a problem with it either.This rifle is 20 years old with no miss-fires period.
It has killed several moose and several mule deer as well.
So the guy who has watched the media blitz and takes it as gospel... Sir I have some prime water front property in West Richmond BC.
It is just West of the Dyke and is unobstructed in its views of the Southern Gulf Islands.

So in view of not having any problem and the fact you do not have any personal knowledge of a problem, you view a one sided biased and distorted video and decide to take the side of the lawyer trying to 'extort' a settlement from the insurance company of Remington.

Give your head a shake man...

It is not about your disagreeing but rather your adamant insistence that everyone else is wrong.

The last time I have met anyone with that much fanatic fervor they were trying to sell me on their version of God on my doorstep ;)
