Shooting form a bolt action rifle what would be the quietest ?.
Mind you it does not have to be a .22 lr but would like to find a bullet that has some power behind it unlike short ect ect (not saying shorts have no stopping power :) ) . I liked rem subs very actuate and not that noisy .

You will find that the longer your barrel the quiter ammo is. I have used 24 and 28 inch barreled guns and it is amazing how quiet these CCI CB's can be, a shot or a Long round both have the same velocity I believe. fs

While not a LR round, the CCI .22 CB long is so quiet if you were around the corner of the house and I shot my rifle, you would not hear it. I can hear the hammer drop louder than the round going off. Since it is well sub sonic that is no surprise. Great for feral animal control in an urban setting.

Regular .22 LR rounds are not too quiet since the supersonic bullet makes quite a crack (mini sonic boom) when it exits the muzzle. I would say that CCI blazer is likely the best of the lot.

I shoot a lot of Aguila Super Colbri. It is a LR case with a 20 gr bullet; no powder in he case but a big dose of priming compound. Makes about the same noise as an air rifle. Fairly accurate to 25 yards, too.

CCI CB Longs, are good as well as the Aguila Super Colbri. I dont know if Federal still does their CB Long as they were pretty quiet in a long bolt action. Remington Subsonics have the best energy but are louder. LWTTWISI;)

I normally do not like Remington products because of poor quality control in recent years. But I shot several boxes of a new product of theirs this summer, and have been very impressed. It is a .22 LR "CeeBee" with standard length case and a large hollow point in something around a 30 gr. truncated cone bullet. Standard length so it feeds normally from LR magazines. Very accurate from my old Browning T2. Kills gophers MUCH more quickly and humanely than CB shorts from CCI or Remington, the hollow point actually seems to cause expansion even at the slow speed. Super quiet too.
I kept shooting range to no more than 30 yds, and killed about 50 gophers with about 2 boxes of shells. I'm a very happy customer.

CCI CB short are the quietest i have tried. They are around 750 fps. Good enough for some close range type stuff out of a single shot rifle.

Winchester also make a subsonic round which is fairly quiet out of a longer barrel. Depending on what you want it for, could you not borrow a good high-power pellet gun?

Pellet gun are nice but I was looking for a "cool" type round for me and some of my friends to shoot off. Do you know where they carry those Win's ? Thanks for all the input guys.

CB shorts are very quiet but I think Flobert short BB caps are the quietest

The Colbri comes in "Colbri" and "Super Colbri". The Super is faster and intended for rifles. Bullets will make it out of the barrel. Super is quite loud in a handgun.

Colbri is milder and intended for handguns. Bullets would probably stiick in a rifle barrel.

My kids and I have been shooting the CCI CB short (715 fps, 29 grains) out of a single shot Henry mini bolt I just picked up. Even in a short barrel gun like this it's still a very quiet round (my 900 fps air rifle is much louder). The hammer dropping is louder than the round going off.

All the really good target stuff (Lapua, Eley, etc) is subsonic so it's pretty quiet. Expensive though.

I shoot a lot of Aguila Super Colbri.

Moderator is no longer being manufactured, all of those PMC offerings were good rimfire products. FS

There is no Aguila ammo of any kind, nor rimfire PMC approved for sale in Canada. If someone has any, then it is old stock, or came in under the 5000 round personal exemption......
