I'm on deck but have a question regarding belt set-up.

Rule 5.2.4.1 says:

For table starts or similar, after the Start Signal, the competitor
may carry those items anywhere on their person, and this will
not be treated as contravention of Divisional rules.

It is been discussed on GV several times and I believe it is acceptable to have equipment on front of the hip bone after the beep.

Anyways, 4 pouches not be enough when you run to the stage which force you to reload after each 6 rounds and even with an unloaded gun. So, you'll work trough 5 pouches or else you'd be doing static reloads...

I've found that 4mag + 1mag LAMR = 5 total is plenty or L 1 and 2 matches.

As for level 3.... I go 6 total and live with having to reach further behind my back.

Why change equipment? My point is that 6*5 just barely enough on some stages, even if you won't miss. :)

Having a magazine temporarily placed in your front pocket in order to facilitate the Load and Make Ready process is not an infraction.

Officials should not be running around trying to bump competitors to OD.

Appendix D4 - Point 18 of the PD rules (and Appendix D2 & D3 Point 17 of the SD/MD rules), gives the RO specific authority to demand that a competitor adjust any equipment which is not placed in compliance with the applicable divisional rules. If the competitor refuses to comply, that's when Rule 6.2.5.1 is invoked.

My usual routine is...
Show up at the line with 4 fully charged mags on my belt and one fully charged mag in my front pocket. On the LAMR, I load 1 round from my number 4 mag on my belt, remove mag and place back in number 4 mag pouch on belt. Then I take mag from front pocket, insert in gun and holster. Ready to rock. I never have a mag in my front pocket at the AYR command.

Even if it is there after AYR, so long as you don't use it after the beep you are ok.

As I mentioned before I have a waist size 30.... 4 mag pouches allow perfect pouch angles. 5 mag pouches forces pouches to be at or near vertical position because I have to place them closer togerther or the 5th pouch will be way past the middle of my back... that's a no no for me. Since I mostly shot L1 & 2 matches this year and only two L3, I go 4 mag pouches... heck some matches I could have gone 3 pouches plus 1 for LAMR.

Wish I was fatter... NOT!

After reading throught the posts and re-reading some of the rule book I'm going to head over to Lee Valleys and pick up afew round Rare Earth Magnets and epoxy at least one to the side of my first mag pouch just to hold my mag I'll use for my LAMR. Depending on my LAMR routine maybe another for my stripper mag.... we'll see.

Thanks for all the advices.

If you are doing that be sure to get the field focusing steel cups that the magnets fit into. They increase the holding power of the magnet by about double to ensure that your mag won't fall off your belt when it's loaded with rounds.

Also the hole in the cup allows for easy pop riveting or screwing to the belt or a holder. Forget glueing to that Kydex plastic. It may seem OK at first but it'll snap off at some point over time. Rivet or screw is the only way to do it so that you're sure it'll stay put.
