First time Skeet shooting

Yesterday I went skeet shooting for the first time. I have done trap shooting before, but not skeet. I really liked it, I even managed to (miraculously) hit my first pigeon! That never happens to me (I always need a few warm-up shots). It was also a gun I have never used before (a 20 g o/u)! Beginner’s luck? I'm not sure if I like skeet or trap better, I definitely have to try them both again...maybe in the same day...just to be sure you know? Lol. Loads of fun though! :D
 
Trap shooting is less of a social event as you can't gab during your round and a round of Trap goes much faster then a round of skeet.

And I still find trap too boring to bother with any more,choosing to shoot skeet instead.
 
We usually shoot a couple of rounds of both skeet and trap at our Thursday practices. I think some people find that shooting one can interfere a bit with shooting the other and every once in awhile you run into some lore surrounding the differences. But I like to shoot both. After all, it is all shooting and all fun, right! Skeet is regarded by some as good practice for activities like sporting clays and 5 stand too because of the variety of shots. Sometime when you have won big at poker, providing you are interested, of course, take the extra $50 and get Todd Bender's video on winning skeet with fundamentals. Watching a master of the game who can also teach will probably help your game take a big jump. Of course, being able to do what Bender does is probably reserved for very few of us. But watching it being done is very encouraging and his video sure helped me. I've really enjoyed shooting skeet after studying his lessons and I'm even thinking of getting his doubles video.
 
Trap shooters are gumpy old farts who use illegal handloads. Skeet shooters are delicate flowers who cry if it rains. Sporting clays shooters are conniving loudmouths who cheat and can't walk the course without a cart. 5 stand shooters are barely worthy of note. FITASC shooters are wannabe Europeans who think status comes from how French they sound when saying the word "parcours."

Did I miss anybody? ;)

I like skeet well enough but I don't have the patience or focus to be good at it. I prefer sporting clays. Anyone who earns 4x100 in skeet competition is worthy of respect. Those who disagree should start shooting skeet with a .410. It's an, ahem, educational experience. :)

I like shooting on a skeet field, but I find a regular round of skeet a bit boring. Between trap and skeet I do not think one is more difficult than the other. To be perfect at either requires dedication and talent.

Maybe try it gun down , safety on and finger off the trigger with a 28 or a 410 .
I shoot it that way to keep in shape for upland hunting - LOTS of fun, and not so easy to clean a round!!:rolleyes:
