7.92 (8MM) Availablity?

I would say surplus is scarce but new manufacture is available.
I am buying PPU at a local store for $21.15 per 20, FMJBT 198gr
It can be had cheaper online but then theres shipping,

I have one. (VZ24...)

Been in the 'fam for 30 years and, surplus is drying up very fast...certainly not cheap to shoot anymore. The re-loaders n'er have a problem though...I'm not that far yet. Hunting ammo can be found (here) with no big issue. In the last year I've paid 60cents/rd for surplus from a fellow CGN'er(100rds), 50c/rd at a show(10rds).

Hunting Ammo is around too. I can't recall exact $'s but, 3 years ago bought a box of Federals for about25 bucks...most of the shops (sadly I haven't seen it in can-tire or wally for ages) do have some

...gotta admit, they are great!!!

Yep - brass can be formed from a number of calibers easily scavenged at the range if you feel like it.

Commercial ammo is pretty plentiful as well.

Surplus... not much. 3 or 4 years ago there was decent amounts, but it has long since gone up in smoke or been squirreled away.

LOL - more like 7 or 8 years ago since any was around in quantity. There was some portugese stuff and some ecuadorian as I recall. Long since gone for the most part and all pre-NRCan revised regs for ammo imports.

I remember rockin' the TNW MG34 real good in the good ol' days ;)

Best bet is to handload.

Cast bullets cost nothing. Gas checks are only needed over 2000 ft/sec if you use wheelweight metal. LEE mould is only 25 bucks.

The C.E. Harris UNIVERSAL load gave 1800 ft/sec with a 180 cast bullet in MOST military rounds with 2 MOA accuracy. Thirteen grains of Red Dot does the trick. Cheap, too: 537 shots to the pound of powder.

Trade-Ex has brass reasonable. Get 200 or 300, load up, go have fun.

Save the jacketed bullets for Bambi & Co.: they cost.
