How about a do it yourselfer custom, with the satisfaction of doing it yourself:) prices approximate but close...

Stevens 200 LA with weaver bases 420 with tax
Timney trigger 120 with tax
Boyds stock 130 shipped incl exchage and duty
330 bucks for your scope of choice.....

Now, sell the barrel and stock(realistically get $120) buy a savage precision barrel on CGN for about 450 or less with the right deal, take a scope off one of the safe queens then you have not only a custom but a comp rifle to boot.. with some money left over for a beverage(s) of choice.

A used Husqvarna 1600 series in VG- EX condition from Tradeex, add a Zeiss Conquest 4X with a #4 reticule, and that will come in right at $1000 with quality mounts and a good sling.

Husqvarna 1600 from Trade-ex 520$ Weaver K3 on Ebay or CGN 100$ rings+bases 100$ = 720$

Makes a classy set-up, though mine is a Husqvarna 4100 lightweight in 7x57, my K3 cost 48$ on Ebay, I had the rings and the gun came with bases......shoots mostly sub 1" though I did make one 1/2".....

At WSS in Calgary the deal is better than the online price. The stainless bbl and burris FFII scope mounted for only $990 or $999 [can't remember which]. But after taxes that's only a few bucks over the limit.

I LOVED my T3 Lite in .300 WSM but sold it to buy a Savage 10FCP with HS Precision stock and Leupold glass. I don't regret selling it, but it was a great gun in .300 WSM.

If I could have found a T3 and put glass on it near your $1k mark, I would have posted the same type of package... if you can find that at $1054, then go for it!

yup i managed to build a t3 stainless with burris for 1150 taxes in, but rifle was 699. nobody wanted 338 fed
