Do Plastic Handguards hold zero with a Red Dot on a CZ858 ?

I was wondering if the plastic handgards are sturdy enough to mount a Red Dot, and hold zero ? They seem to be quite popular, but I have also read elsewhere that it is best to buy a aluminum handguard because the plastic ones don't hold zero as well.

I am surprised that the plastic ones are popular if they don't hold zero, if you mount a Red Dot to them.
 
Just wondering also, do the NEA stock adapter, and cantilever scope mount hold zero ?

I really don't want to go the route of the Fugly POSP scopes and huge, bulky like russian bear mounting system, so I am trying to figure out the strongest option. I have spent hours looking at some sticky's, and I am still undecided which way to go.

I wish that someone has come out with a way of mounting a scope to the dust cover, solidly.

get the side mount weaver rail from interammo. that way u can up anything u want on it and it will hold zero. I have a POSP scope on it and the weaver rail for my red dot all side mount easy to remove and holds zero everytime u remove and replace

They arent plastic they are composite and theyre pretty tough
its half dozen of one six of the other aluminum will heat up much quicker and it is soft neither one is going to last forever that said a good quality aluminum one will have a hard anodized finish its paper thin but if you dont overtighten they will last longer
 
The only problem is when you remove the handgaurds and put them back on will you notice a shift in the P.O.I.
 
Are the AR's fitted with metal rails ? They seem to work. I may just end up going with the NEA stock adapter and cantilever mount, since I think they are more secure, and they won't heat up, because of were they are.

The POSP mounts are out of the quetion, because they are Fugly. They look about as cool as Louvres on a rear window of a Camaro.

The NEA stock adapter will take away the ability to use your irons, this is what has stalled my build, since I want backup sights.

I have an NEA top HG for my red dot. It returns almost perfectly to zero as long as it is tight.

Are you planning to put a scope, or a red dot on it?

Ruach came out with a butt stock adaptor that was adjustable to allow you to switch it's mounting level so you can get the use of your irons back but I didn't like how it was able to do this. So far the best mounting system I have found for AR butt stock conversions for the CZ platform hands down are the Dlask Straight Model;

The slanted version felt wierd & when double tapping forced my second or third shot up too high. Although on this new straight version & a good muzzle brake it seems like all muzzle rize has disapeared.
 
I posted a similar question a while ago ,and can now report that the two times I removed my FAB handguard and dot sight at the range there was no signifigant change in the poi.
If my CZ had not come with the FAB furniture I wouldn't have bought it ,but it's working good so far.
 
I have a Fab Defence handguard on my CZ858 with an Eotech. It will hold zero while mounted but every time I remove the handguard for cleaning it loses zero. Plastic is ok for lights but not for optics imho.

Thanks Satain, but I actually bought the NEA adapter because of the rail. I don't really care about putting an AR stock on it. I just want to improve the sight radius with an aperture sight as far back as possible, or to be able to use a scope on the QD rail, but still to have the ability to use my irons if I need to. I am mainly concerned with making my non-res carbine into a better gun for hunting.

How is your full length rail coming along?:cheers:

Thats how i run one of my VZ's, that was actually the original reason we made the railed stock adapter.

As for a top rail, it sounds like there will be a few choices in the new year.

After Dave gave me some helpfull insight's I have it almost perfect but I now run into problems removing the rear cover for cleaning. So it's going to take a little longer to perfect for me.

This is going to be just like the time I make my own front fiber optic post and then 2 weeks later you release your's. I think from now on I am going to PM you first before I start creating stuff for myself.
 
I used to run the FAB handguards, and never had a problem with POI shift. I even took them off at the range in the middle of a shooting session and then put them back on and never had a problem. That said, I bought the NEA one mainly because it was lower and could co-witness, which is worth something too.
