Was looking on the Cabela's Canada site a while back and they have a limited issue Remington 870 Express in .410 listed with 18.5' bbl. Just wondering it anyone has picked one up and would care to share their thoughts on the balance, quality of build, etc... Thinking of picking one up for a light grouse shotty while checking my snares for bunnies.

I've got the full choked 26" bbl model Express and a Wingmaster, but the Wingmaster is too nice to beat up and the long bbl. Express a little too unwieldly for my liking, so I was considering having the latter shortened or alternately, picking up another with the desired factory bbl length.

Any thoughts, please feel free to share. :)

870 410 express

I have seen the 870 express 410 in a youth model with a 18 3/4 barrel and a fix full choke but not one in fullsize. Not saying it is not made
I also own an express and wingmaster 410 870 for the same reasons you mentioned so I don;t beat the crap out of the wingmaster in the woods . Both are 25" mod choke barrels and I have been looking for years for a skeet barrel with no luck. I do also shoot a bps pump with a 23" barrel and have to say you do notice the difference of just 2 inches in the bush.

Wouldn't a single shot also work for pot shots at sitting birds? Probably a lot lighter, and cheaper as well.

Yep! And an $800.00 Ruger Mini-14 would kill just as many Coyotes as my $3500.00 Swiss Arms semi-auto!;) C'mon guys, we're CanadianGunNUTZ, not CanadianKinda'GunLikers!

Do we really need a reason to buy a new gun? BTW: the standard bbl length for the .410 is 25", but there was a limited run built with an 18.5" bbl.

For what it is worth I was speaking to someone today from remington regarding some other parts for my 410 wingmaster and on a side topic I asked about the barrel. Both the 410 wingmaster and express show part numbers for both 25" fixed choke and 18 1/2" fixed choke barrels. So pending how they ordered them you could for sure see the 18 1/2 in a non youth gun.
