Today I passed up a 12 point buck to shoot a doe! And I had a buck tag... In Manitoba

Um... shop has heat.
And it was way to dark out.

And I don’t like to drop the gutz when i hunt. i am scared that it would scare the deer away.

Great deer, congrats. I would not worry about the gut pile scaring them off. I have left tons and they always seem oblivious. Now if you are hunting on someone else's property I certainly would be sensitive to where you leave the remains. Some farmers are funny like that.:)

I'm going to defend starpuss on this one. I typically gut my deer while they are hanging as well. It's way cleaner and I prefer my meat to be clean. I have done it both ways and hanging (for me at least) is a way better idea.

Nice doe starpuss. I took a large doe this year as well but it wasn't quite as big. Yours looks pretty "experienced".

Say what?

For a few reasons.

Running, fall, fill barrel with dirt or snow. In excitement shoot at game and have a problem.

Running fall down, knock scope and miss game.

Running have heart attack and die.( if your older and out of shape like me)

Believe me, I am sure we all did. I know I did when I was young. It never worked out for me like it did for Starpuss.

You do realize that running is just like walking, but faster, right?

Just because you can't, doesn't mean others aren't able to!

Apparently he couldn't run without falling a few times either.:D

. So I RAN to the field where I thought they would go (600 yards so away) and slipped on my ass maybe 2-3 times on the way.

I wonder if the muzzle was taped,or if he even bothered to check it before shooting. Not that I haven't run with a firearm before, but it does increase the risk of an incident occurring.Just one more reason that I tape the muzzle of my rifle.

I'm curious about the girth, did you get a chance to measure it?

I have to agree with Archie,it's not safe for you to run in the bush,
You could be mistaken for a sasquatch and get shoot.

Good job Brad. I shot my buck out of the kitchen door while standing in my boxers this year.

Thanks. My buck took a little more persuasion than yours. Crawling through a field for about 300 yards so I could get closer to the stupid buck who wouldn't even look up when I bleated and grunted. I tried everything. It ended up being a 280 yard shot with a muzzleloader. Something I wasn't too keen on (it wasn't mine, and I hadn't shot it yet). Took him in the heart and he fell where he was hit.

And I got a little spiker with my bow. In the Cat Hills.

All you guys are wrong about the running with a firearm.......................

Even in kinder garden they strongly advise you against running with??????????

scissors !!!!! :p

Who cares...the story is so full of holes it wouldn't float for a second:confused:. 600 yard shots:bsFlag: Running with a gun whilst slipping and falling several times, a confermed 6X6 at last light from 200 plus yards...WOW the guy has amazing eyesight;), shot 4 other deer this season from the same spot ...and all through the spine (what is the legal seasonal limit of deer in Manitoba anyway?)... and still going out for the big one that got away?? Hanging a deer guts and all in the garage by the head...because it was too dark to gut out in the field:rolleyes: I can only hope this crew is at least a half a province away from my general operating sector...and I'm not saying anything about the spell check...

Get your hunting buddies over tonight for a few beers and read the OP again for $hits and giggles:p
