A bunch of you have commented already on my sewing skills in a previous post of my "poor mans" sling for the FS2000... Well I had an extra twenty minutes this morning before work and a little Cordura laying around...

Here's the result - Padded luggage for the trunk of the carbine...

There is plenty of room under the hammer/trigger mechanism at the rear of the rifle, so I decided something needed to be in there...

I figure if Fate's Fickle Finger was going to strike me, it would start with this part... I bought a spare from the folks at Questar (such excellent service it's un-describable). If this lifter decides to fail, I think that's it for rounds being ejected...IMHO, it's the weak link in the chain, so at $35 bucks, why not have an extra link... Probably have room in the trunk for a Bore-Snake, and a bottle of CLP!

Cheers,

Mike

I've always wondered about the great amount of space under the fire control group. The cleaning set doesn't fit, and two bars of Snickers doesn't last very long.

Too bad I don't have a spare stock and backplate and an understanding of the mag release mechanism (love the look of straight 20 mags):

where can you get that bottom rail for this rifle? that is a sweet rifle!! oh em gee

That's not actually what it looks like, but along the lines of what I'd try to accomplish if I had spare lower and back plate. Be advised that what you see there does not exist, and thus it is vain to drool over.

The tri-rail however does exist and you can get it from Questar:

very nice! that will be a great addition to my future fs2000. Thank you for the link. And I LOVE your avatar, I really do.

According to Wikipedia here (although I couldn't find any other reference) the empty space in the stock is meant to house the battery pak for an electronic range-finding and fire control system for the grenade launcher.

That would definitely be superior to the spare shell lifter I have in my "trunk"... I would so love to see the look on the MNR guys face if I had that, along with my hunting tag, and registration certificate in there... The battery would have to be well labeled - perhaps in a fitting "blaze orange" color... :D

For the battery that powers the GL fire control module that no one actually has bought any.

I wanted to bring an upgrade to your attention for the FS2000.

There's an alloy charging handle available from an ARF.com member.

I get a kick out of the fact that you still call you sling a "poor man's sling"...did you not notice you own a FS2000...not exactly the poor man's gun. Nice work on the storage BTW.

Picked one up! $60 shipped to Canada. I'll let you know how it works shortly.

Yeah, sorry about that, I set the price to 60$, when it costs him 3$ worth of stamps to ship it here. And it works great. It's a bit longer than the original, and thus is easier to grasp.

I want one of those charging handles and one of these:
A Neu-trigger. Although this vid is of one in an Aug, they also make one for the FS2000.

I purchased a NeuTrigger as well but he won't ship to Canada. I have relatives down in Florida now and so he shipped to them, and they shipped to me. Really takes the "edge" off the trigger pull.

I've had a chance to use the charging handle now and it works great! It is a little larger then the original, but it makes it easier with respect to gripping it. Both upgrades had for less then $100 shipped to my door. Both are easy to install as well - the NeuTrigger has a utube vid showing installation.

You and your relatives probably just violated US ITAR. Careful with that.

For a part like that, and with a value of under $100, I can't see it being a problem.

Or by the look of it, you could probably make your own with a beer can, a pair of scissors, and some pliers :)
