Shooting Sig P226 in extreme cold......

Hey just saw a post on shooting Glock in cold weather. What about shooting a Sig Sauer P226 in cold weather? Anyone had any issues? Any precautions when it comes to oiling or anything one needs to take???

What's the coldest temperature anyone has shot their Sig at??

You just lube it normally etc??

As far as how cold yeah -20C or -30C. Much colder than that i won't be at the range!!!

I have herd of the american made sigs cracking the frame near the grip in extreame cold I cant find the thread on it but it happend to some one on here a few years ago with a .40 or .45

I think the cold to hot will cause more issues on material stress than any lube issues on the slide, If you take an all metal gun and leave it out and get down to let say 40 below, that whole thing might just blow up on you as metal gets brittle, don't know, and not willing to try, the Finish military might be able to offer some insight,if you keep it inside your clothes and give it a little body heat and the pistol materrial only hits -20 celcius fire away, no issues, use eezox as a lube and you will be good to go. AIMO

well, you better use light grease on the rail or just oil at anything under 0. Other than that, there shouldn't be any issues.

Alright thanks. So lube aside should i be weary of a certain temp. to shoot in as far as possibly damaging the gun otherwise?

Find out the coldest place that uses those guns as duty issue, find out the coldest temps they experience, don't shoot colder than that.

Realistically, that should cover you for any gun, at any temp you actually are going to go to the range and shoot. Even a nut with a gun such as myself, finds it difficult to get out much past minus 20.

Ive shot my SIGs as cold as -30. The only thing you need to be aware of is to use oil instead of grease...the grease will just get too thick and it wont cycle. Ive even experimented with oil on top of a very thin layer of grease with some success, but at -30 oil only.
