Well, after a week of seeing nothing but does, on the last day of my season (unfortunately had to go back to work) got my first ever deer. Just started hunting last year with my father in-law and can say I'm a changed man.
Had been sitting for the morning and after not seeing anything for a few hours decide to head back for lunch. Start walking, turn a corner in the bush and there's this guy just standing in the middle of a field. Ranged him at 311 yards. Drop the trigger stick in the ground take aim and fire. Nailed him - a little low but still a double lung shot. He ran maybe 60-70 yards and dropped.
he's certainly not the biggest buck out there......but figure this gives me plenty of room to improve. Can't wait to get out again next year (and for yotes this winter).
