Hey guys i was out to bass pro the other day looking at a brownig silverhunter.I was very impressed with how nice it felt and how light it was. Can anybody tell me how this gun is? does it jam often or is there another gun i should be considering?, I have another gun for ducks. I am mostly looking for a 20 gauge semi for rabit hunting also where would be the best place to purchase cabelas?
 
The silver has the same action that was in the browning gold hunter which I have and it has been a great gun. The only problem that I had was that I had to clean the hole where that gas was comeing into the barrel because it was causing some failures to properley cycle but this was after thousands of rounds with not knowing that this had to be cleaned ocassionaly.
 
Been a while since I looked at one but when compared to the gold if I recall they have a hump back and it doesn't have the speed loading . It doesn't have the cut off and it comes with no shims . Still a great gun from what I have heard.
I have two gold ( 10 & 12) and a superx2 and love them.
 
The Silver 12g uses the internals and bolt from the Winchester SX2, itself a rock solid gun. The Silver 20g uses the same internals and bolt from the discontinued Gold 20g. The Silver's are excellent guns, just keep them clean like any other semi and you won't have any problems.

My hunting partner had one, and it was a good gun. Kind of a low frill Browning, but the basics of the gun was good, it just does'nt have the bells and whistles. I am not a big fan of the Silver Action for Turkey hunting though.
 
I got a new Silver Hunter from Bass Pro a year ago. It is in 20G and I found it ideal for grouse on our annual trip `up north. Unfortunately, in Sept, I had an accident on my ATV which resulted in a helicopter ride to Sudbury Hospital and the Browning suffered a broken stock as I had the top off the scabbard to allow easy access if I spotted a Grouse. I was convinced the gun would be badly damaged but to my surprise, the blueing and action are totally unmarked and the gun is up at EE awaiting a new stock. I have a couple of 12G autos but find the Silver Hunter capable of doing what I want without the extra recoil. All in all, a very nice gun and well worth the money.!! Tony
