Fudd isnt a specific insult, meant to harm. Its just another joke term the same as "tacticool" and the like. Me and my friends throw these terms around and no one loses an eye. Calling a man/woman and his/her choice in firearms down is an insult. Acting like yours is better when his works for him is an insult. Ive packed my Stevens 67E with a 30 in. barrel and slugs in grizz country. How you like that? Ive also got a Benelli Supernova Tactical (who woulda geussed that?) that totals close to $2000 for serious defense. It works and I like it, I'm proficient with it and its as reliable as aids. But I wont call down someone elses choice. To the OP, my recommendation is a test drive. Hit up either a local gun store or range to try out the ones you like. Rem 870's, Mossberg 500/590's are rock solid performers with a huge aftermarket, but different controls that you may or may not like. What is best for you? The one you are most comfortable with, can operate the best and are comfortable shooting. Once you make that decision, you got 2 things left to do. Find what ammo you and the gun prefer, then PRACTICE until you are confident in yourself and the gun. Then you will be as ready as you can be, and more than you need to be. Remember, dont think of it as a need to get it right the first time. If you decide you dont like what you chose, you can upgrade, modify or sell it and try something else. And BTW, the rem 870 tactical has an 18.5" bbl threaded for remchokes. Some even shoot trap with them. Hell I remember watching a Prince Rupert B.C. Rod and Gun Club member shoot trap at 27 yds with a mossberg mariner 18.5" cyl bore...successfully. Not every clay got hit, but a good percentage are in a million pieces! So dont fret over which one is best, like the others wont work. Pick what suits you and have fun with it! because you'll probably never have to use it. Ive had to jump in a truck and arm myself ONCE and I grew up in B.C.

that's better.....
