whats my gun worth? i just picked up a win 94 from 1906

i just want a ball park value of it, it's got a long octagon barrel on it 30-30 cal ,i'd say overall cond is around 80% very tight action for a 1906 win, it's been reblued and the stock has be refinished.sorry don't have the smart's to post pic's on here.

Since it has been refinished, collector value has dropped considerably. Probably 450 to 500 to the right person maybe more to someone not in the know.

I'm am by no means a collector, but from what I understand the older guns are more desireable if left in their original condition....no re-bluing, no refinishing...

I agree with Iceman, around $450 if it has a good bore, maybe less. No collectability there.

all of the collector value is gone, sorry, you bought a shooter. any time a gun is refinished its collectability is lost to the true collector.

If it has been re-blued and refinished wood then it can not be 80% condition I will guess the bore is likely dark and rough market value as a shooter $350-$450

You can find un-touched old 94's on the EE for <$500 although the oct barrel keeps the value up there a bit. Good luck

Refinishing is only one way to ruin a collectible gun.

Alot of guys don't see that even that sling stud or a non-factory hole in the receiver for an aftermarket peep sight totally wreck all collectibility on those old girls.

Collectors actually wanna see that baby#### brown patina on an old gun they're thinking of buying.

Not really that often. Seems to me they run usually around $700 and up. Cheaper than that and they are gone in minutes.

I have 2 Winny rifles made in Sept and Dec of 1906...confirmed by Winchester polishing room records. More accurate than many published lists. One octagon, the other round, original patina and both shoot great. No one would even get near my guns for $500.

Purdy as it may be it's a re-blued, refinished gun.
$350-400 as a real nice lookin shooter, zero value as a collectable.

Your new to collectable old guns aren't you!
If you don't want a somewhat accurate value of your gun don't ask, just continue to imagine you've got some rare old lever gun worth exactely what you won't sell it for

Mooseman, I collect old Winchesters, although my budget permits only a very modest collection of lower grade guns. Even at that, I would not want a rifle that had been reblued, or had the wood refinished. Most collectors would not be interested in a reblued and wood-refinished gun. The only exception is if was professionally restored, but that usually costs more than what you would be able to get back. Even then a lot of collectors still would not be interested in a professionally restored rifle.

i don't want collecters right now ,i want shooters ,so if it works fine and it's nice and tight and shoots strait ,i want it .(i cant afford a collecter right now)
