What would you get? Tavor or XCR?

I owned an xcr and really liked it. I had to sell it to afford the tavor which I like a bit better because it's so small. They are both cool guns worth owning.

Neither. I've owned a Tavor, and didn't like the feel of it or having the mag behind the pistol grip. Found it made for clumsy mag changing compared to an AR system. As for the XCR, I think they are funny looking and have never wanted one. :puke:

I don't like the look of the Tavor and love the look/feel/reliability of my XCR-L I have complete uppers in 223 & 6.8spc which is something the Tavor is incapable of doing...

I shot 2 mule deer with the 6.8spc upper this fall and I will be going to Alberta for Christmas so will be going after coyotes when I get there, I'm working up loads right now for the 223 can't decide which upper to have on so will take both + my 22-250 & 6mm-284 have to have something to do to get away from the in-laws...

I found the same thing with mag changes until someone posted on here to use your shooting hand thumb. Think of opening your hand which extends your thumb. Very slick. Mag drops free new one in with other hand. Very similar to an AR mag change. This drastically changed my original opinion on the ergonomics.

I'd go with the XCR so that I could change uppers to take advantage of the 6.8 and 30-30 Rimless Soviet for hunting big game. I've already got a SAN as my 223 non-restricted jagdgopherwaffen so something in either 7.62x39, 6.8SPC or 7.62 NATO would pique my interest more than another dedicated 223 rig.

Yes, but in the real world, grunts don't throw their mags away or let them fall on the ground. But if you like it, all the power to you. I also did not like the balance or lack of. As far as cool factor goes, yes, it has lots of that! :D

I found in the prone positon, mag changing was a real bugger with the tavor.

not entirly true. all iw would take would be a new bolt and carrier, and new barrel. a .223 mag can feed a 6.8 so thats not a problem. all it would take is someone with some time and money to get the gas ports the right size. should be about the same as a 6.8 ar with the same barrel length. if i had the cash and a good enough shop id be more than willing to try.

That makes zero sense. It's identical to an AR mag change. The only difference is you use your shooting hand thumb to hit the release instead of your shooting hand index finger. If you wish to keep your empty mag or almost empty mag then so be it. Same as the AR.

As for prone. Slight tilt to the right and no issues. Slightly more awkward than an AR but not much and the ability to use the mag as a monopod when shooting prone far outweighs this.

Standing, kneeling or prone the Tavor is exceptional. This is the main advantage. The AR will beat the Tavor and XCR handily in accuracy if you accurize it.

As for the balance of the Tavor. It's very easy to keep this rifle pointed on target from the unsupported positions. Even with longer barrels. I can accurately aim this rifle with one hand. I have no issues at all with the balance. For shooting without a support the balance is excellent.

I will however mention that the pointability of an AR is hard to beat. It's more nimble. I found the XCR balance didn't do it any favours. But maybe a good stock on it rather than the factory one would change this?

but the thing is as of now these components are not in existence anywhere?

I have tried loading 6.8spc into my LAR 10 round 223 mags don't believe it when people say it works because it doesn't...

I was going to buy a brand new XCR but then shot a Swiss Arms and my decision changed - shortly after I had purchased a Swiss Arms CQB and I can safely say I am glad I did!!!

Well it looks like it's to each their own. I like my XCR, more and more actually, I've handled a Tavor, but I like the idea of being able to hunt with my 'Black Gun". Yes Ar's are , or can be extremely accurate, but I'm thinking you'll be able to do a few more things with all the available black guns that are non restricted eventually.

i was between both the tavor and XCR and decided to get the tavor instead. didnt like the xcr since it was pretty front heavy, didn't even have the folding stock it should have and being a lefty and having the charging handle in the other side, i wasnt too inclined to it.

The tavor was very compact which I really liked and doesnt even look like it has a 18" barrel. It also has a 1:7" twist for heavier rounds and ergonomics are great. Honestly, I could reload as fast if not, faster with the tavor than an AR.

The kel tec RFB will cover that aspect for me. It's the same price as a XCR. Actually $100 less. Just waiting for it to come in.

Are you mixing up with the 6.5 Grendel round?
