Hello Everyone!

Firstly, apologies for this not having come out last week, the joys of school and life!

This edition is to cover information about, discussion of, and sightings of this, one of the rarest Mosin Nagant Carbines ever.... the 1907 Carbine.

I understand very few exist today, and those that do are in private collections, however, information and discussion here, is totally welcome!

As an additional, I wish to also include in this discussion two other rarity Mosins, for flavour and to make up for last week, they are:

The Finnish M-27rv Cavalry Carbine
The Mosin Nagant M91/38 Converted Carbine

Let the discussions begin, collectors... on your mark...get set...INFORM!

If you have $2,000.00 to $3,000.00 laying around you might be able to buy a 1907 Carbine or even a M-27rv carbine in the USA or Europe. A few M91/38 carbines were imported into Canada, so you might find a sleeper at Gunshows.

For the 91/38s, I would keep a close eye on the barrels and the receiver as 1918 and earlier dates with Imperial Russian proofs will be a dead give away.

AFAIK, there are TWO, maybe THREE M91/38's in Canada total. There are none of the other two models that I'm aware of and I looked hard for them for 6 years, as well as scanning the FRT for a hint someone registered one - nadda.

My FRT disk actually has listings for the 1907 Carbine made by Tula, Izhevsk and Sestroretsk, and the M/27rv made by Tikka and VKT. That said, no pictures so they may just be there for completeness. Does something having an FRT number mean it's actually been registered in Canada? If so, I want to know who has the Gabbet-Fairfax Mars!

"Shooting the Mars pistol was described as "singularly unpleasant and alarming""

I want one.

They are there for completeness. The CFC has been buying up reference books like Rifles of the White Death and creating shadow entries in case a rifle changes hands and the verifier discovers it's really an M27rv or some such thing.

A couple years ago I checked the online registry and there were none registered.

Considering the breech opens right in front of your face.

Ref: checking the FRT's for items in Canada. Just remember the FRT's were assembled from a great number of photo's and information taken at the Pattern Room in the UK. The Pattern Room collection while still in Nottingham would cause most men to wet their pants and cry.
The registry access through the Ottawa Citizen is also quite flawed as even try and find some of your own exotic kit there....

How does one check the FRT system etc if they arent a dealer?

I found some people I knew by crossing their approx local with toys I knew they had.

The real problem is of course that the registry data is full of hopelessly wrong descriptions...

without hijacking this thread: I've been trying to track down something exotic and was wondering how a person might search this database like you did?

There is a "snapshot in time" database of all the data in the registry from a few years ago floating around. It links to the files on the Ottawa Citizen website.

As for FRT access, you have to be a dealer with a verifyer number now. I have the last rev from before they killed civilian verifyer licenses, but it's not completely current any longer.
