Got home from work at 3 this afternoon and thaught i would go for a hike down to some of the big coulees south of the yard. Spotted this guy in the thick poplar stand in the bottom of a deep coulee (300 feet of rope dont reach bottom) There were seven other bucks and some does that were all coming out of the woods as i waited and after about an hour he come up the hill on the other side putting the run on a younger buck. There was 15 minutes time left and he stopped near the top at about 250 yards. I nailed him one shot and watched him tumble and slide all the way back into the bottom and folded up dead in the creek. Thats how i know the ropes didnt reach. Called up my dad and my buddy and finally we got it out of there and home. And there is a lot of meat to smoke.
