Edit [by NAA] The OP wanted the thread title changed to the above. The text below goes with the original title which was: Glock17 22 conversion kit or GSG1911 22?......

Like the title says....I was curious what you guys thought would be a better option.

I'd like to pick up a 22 pistol to bring to the range along with my Glock 17 to mix it up a little and go through more rounds without spending $40-$60 on ammo everytime I go to the range!

I was considering a 22 conversion kit but then discovered the GSG1911 for a good price. I realize that it's no 1911 and not a top notch quality pistol but that's ok...I would use it as a second fun and inexpensive pistol to shoot at the range.

What do you guys think?

GSG 1911-22.
Saw one for the first time inperson the other day. Very sharp looking, shoots amazing, and the owner was happier then a pig in mud. I'd buy that one myself if my wife would allow me to buy anymore this year lol I hit my max for the year about 6 months back.

I'm kind of leaning for the GSG.....There's also the Chiappa 1911 22 ? It'll be a perfect combo with my Gen4 Glock 17 for my range days!

The ISC M22 looks very cool but there seems to be some negative reviews about plenty of misfires? Not sure if this is general ?

So at this point I think the conversion kit is out of the picture.....

GSG 1911-22 or Chiappa 1911-22.....I guess there's also the Walther P22 for $100 more ?

At this point I'd like to change the title of this thread (but I can't) to:

GSG1911-22 or Chiappa1911-22 or WaltherP22:confused:

I changed it for you.... but you could've done it yourself.... you go "edit" then "go advanced" that allows you to edit your thread title... ;)

On the original discussion.... .22 conversion unit for Glock 17/22 vs. GSG 1911 .22lr..... I've owned & shot Glocks for many years. Still don't have a .22 unit for any of them. Or see one in my future..... I've also owned & shot 1911's for ~ 30 years. I have & have had a Colt 1911 .22lr conversion unit for many years. Love it. I also bought a GSG 1911 .22lr a few months back. Love it. So much I am thinking about getting a second one as well. Yes, they are that good.

On the GSG vs Chiappa vs Walther question..... For me I'd go GSG over the other two any day of the week. Put a GSG side by side next to a Chiappa. My bet is 9/10 would pick the GSG, too.

Thanks for changing the title...I'll know for next time.

I'm pretty much sold on the GSG....just called Ellwood Epps and they have a bunch in stock.....I think I'm just going to pick one up...at that price...no sense in debating....I should just pull the trigger:D

I think this will give me exactly what I'm looking for.....a solution to go to the range and shoot 100 rounds without breaking the bank.....I'll keep the Glock for the occasional 50 round sessions!

From the feedback I got here and the online reviews the GSG seems like a great buy.

Yeah GSG is really good quality for a 1911, I handled the Chiappa and for the the same price it doesnt compare. the chiappa felt like a cheap cap gun.

Go for it, you won't regret it. Do a search in this forum, someone (ARMCO?) does a GSG trigger job for not much $$. Not a bad idea IMO.

As for the "100 .22lr and occasional 50 9mm"... That's what we call wishful thinking. :D Pretty soon you'll be doing at least double. Then 300 .22lr and 200 9mm. Then you start reloading. :D

Dlask Arms does the GSG and trigger job for like an extra 60 bucks or something

I did the comparisons between the Chiappa, the Kimber and the GSG. The GSG came out on top. Read all the reviews I could find; watched (almost) all the YouTube videos and mi (sp.....for spelling or for Spanish) sights are set on the GSG.
