The property I bow hunt for Whitetail has recently become infested with yote's. It's pretty thick bush so my usual goto varmint rig - Sako M75V with a big scope is not an option.

What's your favorite choke size and shot shell? Has anyone patterned #4Buck out of their .670" 12ga Turkey choke? How'd it do?

What's your prefered hunting technique? Set-up like spring Turkey and call them in?

I don't use a shotgun, but if I did I would try the "Dead coyote" choke and shot. They claim a decent pattern at 70 yards.

Try the Federal Flight Control Buckshot.......works better than anything else I have tried on paper anyways. You must use an Open Choke though....I use an Improved Cylinder Choke and get tight patterns out to 40 yards.....all 9 pellets on an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper!

I think it was 7 or 8 bucks for a box of 5......I bought a bunch though and got a bit of a deal...i use it for Action Shotgun matches, and it is the tightest throwing patterns that I have tried, but using a tight choke strips the wad off early, negating the "Flight Control" aspect

Was looking at the Hevi-Shot "Dead Coyote", but $47 for a box of 10 . For now I've got some 3.5" Winchester Super X magnum #4 buck - 54 pellets. I'm curious to know if that Xtra Full choke will increase effective range or not. Looks like I'll have some patterning to do...

54 pellets of #4 buck will certainly do the job. We used to use a load of 58 BBs in a 2 3/4 inch 12 gauge load (when we still could use BBs) and they did the job very effectively. Longest kill was at 80 yards going away.

Best to try some patterning of your own.........
While turkey hunting I took a yote at about 40 yds with X-full turkey choke / #5 3" Winchester Supremes. I aimed for the chest he dropped like a stone. Good luck.......hope you get a few.

I think my dad still have some lead 2 and bbs. Otherwise I pick 00 out of a stripper choke.

I've seen some pretty impressive patterns at ranges up to 60 yards with stipper type chokes and Winchester 3 1/2 inch #4 buck loading. Also saw a few with 00 it didn't seem to have enough pellets to reliably do the job, the patterns weren't bad but there were holes big enough that you could miss a coyote coming at you or going away at ranges over 45 yards.

!2 ga slugs work perty good, and great practice.:D

We can still use lead shot in what ever size here, but #4 buck, or BB, or #2 lead, from full choke, shoots with certain death at close range.:D
