Newbie here sorry...Could anyone help with when/where it is allowed for an Alberta resident to hunt coyotes in the Province? Please include info as to whether you can hunt them on public and/or private land and what permissions are required? thanks!

Coyote – A Resident may, without a licence and on land to which he or
she has the right of access, hunt (but not trap) coyote at all times of the
year throughout the province, except as follows:
1) on public lands in the Green Area, only from October 1, 2010 to
February 28, 2011, and
2) in Camp Wainwright (WMUs 728 and 730), only from January 3,
2011 to February 28, 2011.

If you are on crown land, or on private land and have permission, you can let er rip. No license required.

To be clear, when you are hunting in the "Green Zone", i.e. the forestry areas of public lands, you are legally required to salvage the pelt of any coyote you take. In other words, it is against the law to shoot a coyote in the green zone and leave it.

On private lands or public lands in the "White Zone", i.e. the agricultural areas of the province, there is no such requirement.

Also please note that the season for coyotes in the Green Zone is Oct. 1 to Feb 28 only, and the White Zone is year round.
