Lets see your pre 64 model 70's

The one rifle I have that means more to me than any other is the Pre 64 model 70 westerner in .264WM. My Granpa bought it new in 1959, and just a few years ago he gave it to me. I absoultly fell in love with the rifle and calibre right off the bat.

OK, well lets see it before JP hijacks this thread any further ;)

This is my 1949 Winchester Model 70, 22 K-Hornet with a 10 power Unertal scope.

What value should I put on this gun and scope?

One more hijack cd:p. I have the same scope on my antique varmint rifle, an old custom Winchester Highwall in 219 Donaldson Wasp. The 'package' shoots well with handloads using the Hornady 50gr V-MAX.

.220 Swift with it's new glass.
Working well. The scuff ahead of the entrance hole is where the yote was previously caught in a snare. Imagine; got out of a snare, then to meet the Swift.

I'm in!

I have yet still to own a pre-64 Win 70.... but I'd love one in .270 Win in nice shape, though......

Update from my previous post in Sept above...... I'm very proud to say I'm finally in the Pre '64 Model 70 club! w:h:

My recently arrived "new to me", 1961(?) mfg, Model 70 in .270 Win:

I've thrown on a vintage B&L Elite 3000 3-9x40mm that was spare for now. The optics are nice & bright. I'm looking forward to getting out soon with my "new to me" acquisition......

Mine will eventually get pulled apart and built into something else, but until I know what to build it will stay a delightfully un-original 257 Roy.

But as a slight hijack...Pre-64 Magnum bolt face - WWYD?

Matt, your 220 Swift looks like a brother to mine. Only difference is mine has a 15x lyman super targetspot scope. I think I have a not very good picture somewhere, I'll look for it . .yup, found it and a few more:

I have a few more that I haven't taken pictures of, but this is enough for now.

Merry Christmas everyone:

Hi Rod, my Swift is a 54 so they're pretty close. I like the Lyman scope on yours better though, I think you've shown me that picture before, it's a good one. Nice bunch of rifles you've got there, I'm liking all the Featherweights. BTW thanks Rod for the tips on refreshing the wood finish on these Winchesters, it's worked very well for me.
Matt
