Funny stuff right there.

. I'm not saying you can't kill with little bullets, fill your boots hell people killed Heffalumps with spears long before Bell hunted Africa. All I'm saying is bigger is better. Simple physics.

Deer react differently when shot some will do a 100yd dash, some lay down I even had one shot thru both lungs with my old jungle carbine continue feeding for a few seconds and then fall over.

There's a lot of estrogen in this thread. One of the most common threads in gun forums is minimum caliber for deer and ooh will the recoil hurt me? sniff sniff. I've always liked 30 cal stuff especially my old 30-06. I only ever got a .375 because it was a smoking deal. I was silly to sell it but oh well. I am now in the market for a brand new rifle and I choose a .338, if that offends you tuff s**t and wendy's done her job. Being judged online by internet heroes and strangers is a blast, keep the fur flying ladies.

Then you should hit the deer where it should be hit.I hate tracking wounded game, the poor critter suffers.
I have blood trailed for others and myself but never with anything shot by the big boom stick.
IAnd BTW westcoaster, the big bruin I shot with the .25-06 was last spring![]()
Judge not lest thee be judged thyself, broken record.I also have nothing against someone using a .338, a .375 or anything legal to shoot a deer. The problem I see here is saying you NEED something that big to shoot a deer, or else it will hop away like nothing happened. Blaming the itty-bitty 7-08 for 2 lost deer is poor form. Terrible, in fact.
The 7-08 has plenty enough jam to kill a deer. If the deer is lost, then it aint the gun's fault... or the cartridges. It's the shooters.
Man up and accept the responsiblity! Otherwise you have no business holding a gun!
