What clever little things have you "invented or discovered" that you can share?

Fog Ducker's model, but smaller, handling about 400 9mm cases.

i was thinking of it the other day.........wonder if its still spinning up brass:confused:.......

lots of great ideas posted in this thread..thanks to all that shared there ideas:cheers:

Yea i'm still looking for a good drum for mine ,using coffee cans now but they are kinda small.Any ideas?
Mine is a Coleman 1gal jug, $16 at Walmart:
ht tp://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-1-Gallon-Jug-Red/13848699

I had to hot-glue the spout so it won't leak & add an O-ring. Takes 5 lbs of stainless media plus about 400 9mm brass, with about 1/2 volume still free. Used it for about 4 months still going strong.

the Q5-2000 cleaner/polisher

Instead of paying hundreds of dollars for a name brand vibratory cleaner, I use a bucket, my old black and decker sander, Lyman corn cob media, and few drops of Brasso brass cleaner..it took just 15-20 minutes to clean 100 pcs. 357 mag. casings..

Looks pretty good.
Some baffles in the bottom might increase the movement of the cases.

spent primer shoot for my rockchucker

I made this little dandy modification to my rockchucker.
The spent primers go down the clear plastic hosing straight into my garbage pail on the floor.
Don’t have to mess around with spent primer tray falling on the floor anymore and making a mess.

It may not look fancy but its solves allot of frustration from having to look for spent primers that bounce out of the spent primer tray.

Since these pictures i have made another small modification to the tubing, which is cutting a hole big enough for my finger or screw driver just past the elbow to clear out any possible spent primer build up.

Not an invention, but more of an idea when you have no room for a dedicated loading bench, and very similar to Dmay's post, except mine is not home made, but purchased at crappy tire when they had grinder stands on sale.

This is an excellent thread. Gets the ol' grey matter churning and will no doubt grow considerably.

Perhaps it could be made into a "sticky"?

I got mine from a friend who has an account with some sandblasting supply company. You're looking for round 3/32" stainless steel shot. I know everyone recommends the cylinders but trust me, the round SS shot works fine and is much easier to find. I paid $30 for 5lbs.

You probably know this, but I didn't: the trick is to add just enough water to cover the brass + media by about 1" of water. This makes the shot work like a slurry, providing the best cleaning action.

I add a few drops of Costco dishwasher gel and a pinch (whatever fits in a .38 spl brass) of LemiShine from CanadianTire. 1Hr of tumbling is all I need. Also, if you don't decap first there will be no shot stuck in primer pockets.

That's excellent, CanTire has it on 50% sale for $35 right now. I was looking at it yesterday, but wasn't sure if it is stable enough without bolting the base to the floor. I reload in a spare room, and my wife - as forgiving as she is - won't appreciate holes in hardwood. :D

Sooo, is it rock-solid without bolting it down?

Thats what I paid for it also. I loaded up some 30-06 with it with no problems. It has a bit of weight to it, and I set the press on the side where there are two legs, with the one leg in the back. As you can see two boxes of Sierra bullets fit perfect into the storage tray that comes with the stand.

Something to hold my Dillon 550 tool heads, I wasn't going to pay 25 bucks a stand for them and as I need 8 holders I can find some other way or spending $200.00 bucks + GST.

The inside diameter of the heads are 9/16" and while looking at home depot for some weather stripping I walked over to the nuts and bolts section to see what they had.
I found a scrap piece of metal and drilled and tapped 8 holes. I bought 2 1/2" long 5/16" bolts and screwed them into the metal plate. Then put the 5/16" connecting bolt on top and screwed it down, put a washer in between the two to hold the head up. Took me all of 20 minutes and for under 15 bucks not counting the piece of metal. Could do the same thing with wooden base. Don't really need the bolt and washer on the top but at least the head won't fall off .

These fit perfect and the threaded middle section is 5/16". They are made to connect two bolts together.

To hold it up I found some large headed bolts used for furniture and threaded them in.

Thanks, I bought one yesterday, couldn't resist the price - even if I end up using the stand for something else. With my progressive it has to be solid both fore & aft while I'm priming.

ive posted this before, but for those who have not seen it ,heres my portable reloading stand...the legs screw out to make it easy to store in a corner/closet/under a bed or were ever....
