More specifically, down the pine ridge road northwest of red lake, near macintosh lake.

If you even read this forum:

Personally, I don't mind that you left a tentframe up. But dropping trees across the trail was absolutely unacceptable. This is public land, you cannot claim it for yourself by simply occupying it for yourself. If you want a place to hunt all for yourself, you have to buy some land!

The locals cannot stand this sort of behaviour, you have no idea how much it pisses them off! You are alienating the entire hunting community from the local population, and perhaps even encouraging less forest access to be available in the long run.

Say goodbye to your campsite. The MNR is all over that.

Have a nice day.

Well, when I was out on the opening weekend, the camps on the pineridge were mostly southerners. There were locals out hunting, but I didn't see many camping there other than me. (I guess i'm a "seasonal" local).
The suffel lake road had a lot of hunt camps from kenora, etc. as well.

Regardless, the same behaviour works the other way around. I heard a lot of complaining about southerners coming to hunt "our" area. I thought that was ridiculous too. Public land is PUBLIC land, and #######s are #######s, no matter where they're from. I wish that everyone could get along a bit better out there. And I suggest that one who feels frustrated about the road baing more crowded than their tastes, should consider hunting with a canoe or boat, instead of taking out their angst on others. It works for me :)

I used to hunt that area north of Red Lake, many moons ago.

They used to call it uncharted... I guess its over now!... but nothing a chainsaw cant fix in a couple minutes.....:D

I really doubt it was locals doing that, the hunting community is pretty close here, and a stunt like that would not make you any friends.

people like that better hope they arent out there looking for help one day when they are stuck or their truck breaks down
