I looked through my Vortex Spark for the first time since shooting a CQB match a couple of weeks ago. The dot is no longer a dot but a blur? Is this maybe a dying battery or could it be because I am looking at it indoors? I can't remember it ever being a blur before. My mount was completely loose as well. I hope that didn't increase the recoil during the match and damage the red dot. The loose mount would explain my score. :p I don't think I tightened it enough plus I didn't put any blue thread lock on it. It's real tight now and I added thread locker. :HR:

Anyone have their dot go into a blur before?

give it a tap?

My bushnell dot is blurry if I focus on it, however if I focus 2 eyes open on my target (not up close, maybe 30 feet away) then it really sharpens up

I'll have to get it out to the range and see what's up. I ordered four spare batteries that should be in my hands tomorrow so I will try changing the battery as well.

Remember when we sighted in before the shoot at Borden? I was right on target with tight groups. Couldn't figure out why I didn't have more 5 pointers during the match. It had to have been the loose mount. I hope the lock tite and tightening of the screw worked otherwise I will be in the market for a new mount.

Was it set to a high brightness setting? Red-dots will lose their "sharpness" if they're on too bright.

I've seen this with my all my RDS.

I believe I did have it on high brightness. Funny thing is up until the last shot fired during the match at Borden in November I remember it being a dot. All I did was put it in my safe and never touched (well maybe fondled a bit :p) until today. So if it did go bad on me it happened while it was sitting.

hey - yeah man my red dot inside looks blurry, try focusing on a white or light coloured wall with some distance between the red dot and the wall - I find that really helps mine clear up. In daylight some of the blurryness goes away as well - I know it sounds stupid but I noticed a difference with my kit when doing that.

If not I've heard great things about their warranty service, see if you can turn it into a new unit :)
