Cougar 18.5 semi

You have to perm block you +2 if installed on a semi auto shotgun.

BBB,

Could you guys manufacture a follower that is long enough to limit the capacity to 5? That would be the same as other mags that use a long follower to limit capacity and it would mean that no one has to fart around mangling their +2 tube to be legal.

You could then sell the same +2 extension for the 870 and 1100 and only have to change the follower to be legal either way.

I agree makes perfect sense!

How is that any different than installing a longer plug? Still doesn't get you past the 5 round max on a semi. I'm not sure, but that doesn't sound 100% to me.

What doesn't sound 100% to me is that we even have to worry about this nonsense. We MUST get rid of this stupid neutered magazine nonsense as well as the rest of Bill C-68.

Some SKS's are pinned to 5 by welding a piece to the bottom of the follower to limit its travel. If that is legal, I fail to see how a longer follower in a shotgun mag would not be legal, as it is conceptually the same idea. A separate plug can be removed and the mag still function properly. A long follower cannot be removed and have the mag function.

I agree completely. We need pretty much no laws at all to regulate the law abiding, while the criminals will break whatever laws they like. If I was king, C-68 would be abolished in its entirety and we would have constitutional carry for all citizens without violent criminal records.

If these +2 extensions were originally made for the 870's, can't these be used on the 1100's much like the 10rd AR pistol mags and the AIA mags used on M14's?????

Just a though that might be worth looking into and how things might be made to be interpreted...

Very impressed with the quality of the new shotguns from Can Am, the cougar is even better in real life. The pics dont do it justice. The wood is finished nicely & it comes with a screw choke, ghost ring sites & a +2 mag extension with extra spring & hunting plug. Im going to take it out tomorrow & run her through the paces!

Nice Shotgun !! Might have to pic one up ;)

I'm thinking of getting one... But hold on - Can am gives you a + 2 mag tube you can't legally use?

Another question - is the receiver drilled/tapped for a rail mount?

U can legally use it, just not for hunting, perfectly legal for other things.

I understand this is somewhat confusing - as I have been looking into semi-auto SG's recently.

Pump/bolt action shotguns do not have a magazine/tube restriction regarding the number of SG shells they are allowed to be loaded with.

Semi auto shotguns are allowed no more than 5 SG shells (of the length the shotgun is designed to fire) contained in the magazine/tube.

More than 5+1 in a semi makes it prohibited. Now talk about "ghost loading" to really muddy the waters - ha ha!

Hope this clarifies things a bit, before someone gets themselves into a problem.

was playing with one last night, i dont know how people are planing to keep the end cap on the +2 mag tube.
Allso dont forget you have to permantly block that mag tube ASAP to take only 5 rounds, dont thing the old plug in the tube trip is going to stop a trip the the cop shop is anyone tests that gun.
Let us know how you manage to keep the 3 parts to the mag tube from un screwing, we had to stop evey 5 mins and screw it back togeather.

Overall what were your thoughts on this firearm? Outside of the above noted issue?

Range report.....Super smooth action, low recoil due to being gas operated, Lots of failures to eject in the beginning prob due to the fact that the gun is new & also i was using cheap low power shotshells. Buck & slugs ran great. Very comfortable gun to shoot. Looks & feels great but picky on ammo choices, it likes more powerful rounds. I will pound some more rounds out today & see if i can loosen it up a bit more.Overall, Highly reccomended, pick one up but use the +2 mag extension on a pump grizz with an 18.5" barrel instead. Buy that cool railed fore end a + 1 extension & off BBB if you need that extra round!

It's relatively easy to fabricate a sheet metal insert for the extention. One that allows easy compression and decompression of the spring but that will stop the follower from traveling back far enough to allow that illegal 6th round of 3 inch ammo to fit.....

Since you'd be tack welding it to the extention, there's no problem servicing the spring, follower, or cleaning the magazine tube.
