czech small arms- first thoughts

I thought John said the mounts they carry would place the scope "over bore center"...

yes the mount will be pretty much over the center line. Mind you that the mount that is on the picture on wolverine supplies website is not designed specifically for CZ, these mounts are soviet mounts for AKs and SVDs, but if the thickness of the side plate is chosen correctly, these mounts work very well. You also need a shell deflector if you want a longer scope, unless you can do with a shorter scope which have to be flush with the end of the dust cover. I have one installed they work well. Those skeleton butt stocks have a longer length of pull and that helps a lot with the eye relieve, the original red butt stock could be a bit too short for some people regarding correct eye relieve, but I like the red ones because the rifle feels tighter

jealous type ??? i hate to see what you do if he whistled at her. :D

i guess you wont let me fondle your new CSA :D

About time somebody posted some pics of this thing! I posted a review of my impressions, but it didn't receive much interest (no photos?) it shot very well, I found...there was not much I did not like about this rifle. My main issue was that in the shoulder, it sat quite high (like thompson smg style) but the sights were quite low with my giant head, so I had to really squeeze my head low to get a good sight picture...all in all, a great gun...especially when the AR mag adapters come in!

Cheers!

Are these AR mag adapters in the works already? That might be enough to push me off the fence and get one.

Thanks for the pics Angry!
I just spent Sunday afternoon drinking beer and changing the stock to an ACE folder.
The original stock is rather good, I just like the folder.

i bought the wife mostly for the wife. she likes the stock but finds the sights not too great, so shes getting a red dot for christmas. its a fun little rifle. how do you like the new stock and how does it shoot?

Actually the original thumbhole stock is quite nice and perfect length for me.
I will keep the ACE skeletal stock and the FAB grip on though. I do like it for handiness.
No need for the forward handguards to change out. Those rubber-plastic ones are an absolutely incredible grip compared to those horrible oily plasti-pressboard originals.

I agree about the sights. On my 7.62x39, I changed over to a red fibre front sight and a rear Rauch peep sight. It changed everything for me. While I am used to the V and blade sights from all the milsurps, the new fibre and peep stand out so well, there is just no comparison on which to choose.

I wanted to change thie 5.56 over to a red fibre front sight and a peep sight too. I tried to change over the new 5.56 front sight, but found way too much resistance trying to turn the blade out so just stopped for fear of breaking it. I think I'll look into the replacement rear V sight with one of the rear V sights with the fibre dot to each side of the 'V' .

I won't be out to shoot for a bit yet, but look forward to it. I was pretty impressed with the machining quality overall. I don't think my friends beleived it is simply a paint coating!

I'm really interested in somebody setting one of these up with optics and testing accuracy at 100 yards, if these things shoot, it will be my next varmint gun.

Thansk for the pics and info, these look like decent firearms

To the OP...thanks for the report! Tell me how this rifle treats brass. Are the empty cases pretty haggard after being ejected??? Maybe a pic if you have a minute? If I purchased one I would want to handload for it.

The CSA Sporter 5.56 rifle I have really takes a bite out of the brass when ejecting it. Upon inspection for reloading I had to discard some of my once fired brass because of this.
