Hi-Point 995 Carbine 9mm

I got one a Month ago

For the price I found it a lot of fun, I took the sights off of it and put an old red dot on it and was really quite surprised at the accuracy. The newer ones look a lot better than the old ones. It kinda feels a little clunky when handling and working the action but overall it is a blast at the range. The 3 mags I got all functioned really well and it takes a little to get the mag in correctly when doing quick changes. From what I read no one has had any real complaints about them except how they look!

The only thing that bothers me is the recoil reducer when dropping 5 rounds in a hurry, it seems to compress so much then pop out around the 4-5 round. It just feels weird to me. I think you will find it a lot of fun for the money. I only wish that they were Non Restricted. If you have any other questions drop me a PM.

I like mine, for that money you can't go wrong,and if you buy the 40 it takes pistol mags.
 
I really want to try the new .45 carbine. If it is accurate and reliable like the 9mm it could be a cheap backpacking carbine

Wonder what's stopping someone from re-barreling a non-restricted version?

Or am I missing something as to why this firearm is classed restricted outside of a short barrel length?
 
I think I read in another thread that the barrel is an integral part of the rifle and you can't really take the barrel out without destroying the rifle....or something like that.
 
Which is better? The 9mm version or the 40? 9mm is cheaper ammo obviously, but is the 40 more fun at the range? Anyone have pics to post of theirs (closeups so we can see fit and finish)? I've read it's not the best, but for the $... it's a lot of fun.
 
personally, if you're gonna hold it like a carbine and it isn't full auto, go 40 or 45. then again, that's MY opinion and I'm only a Joe Shmoe :p.
 
Didn't realize there was a 45. 45acp? They make any other calibers for this hipoint carbine? Any other choices for a this type of carbine that is non-restricted?

Actually ;) , I was under the impression that the carbine only came in 9mm and .40 S&W :yingyang: - while I knew the pistol was available in .45ACP as well as 9mm, to have the carbine in .45ACP was just something I didn't know about....:wave:
