The REAL price of an XCR

if you are looking for 7.62 look at the cz858. im not sure about the accuracy, but they say it is more accurate than an sks, and an sks gets 2-3 inch groups. (or at least mine seems to)

7.62 as in .308? Go for the Norinco M14. Biggest bang for your buck. Check out the Battle Rifle section for more information regarding that firearm.

"...is a combat rifle..." It's neither a combat, battle nor 'service rifle'. It's an expensive, big kid's, toy. The thing gets mixed reviews on U.S. forums.
"...for a toy..." Excellent reason, but I wouldn't part with that much money. $962.44 will buy you a Mini-14 Target with either the Hogue or laminate stock, from Epp's. The few "range reports" I've seen on U.S. forums are saying they shoot far better than the other models.
"...at 50 yards..." 50 is too close. What's it do at 100?
Kel Tec firearms don't have a stellar reputation, Stateside.

I owned and sold a target mini 14 in 223, it just wasn't that accurate. I did see a vid where a guy was hitting 6" gongs out to 400 yard consistently though. must have gotten a lucky rifle. If you you want real accuracy it really comes down to a bolt action in my opinion.

Hold off tell next year than and get the Kel Tec SU 16 that will only weighs 5 pounds fully loaded and will get the same results as the XCR except for the fact that they say it will retail less than $1000 and will come in non-restricted.

Then take your saving's and use it towards another precision rig ;)

hmmm that looks cool maybe my ei can fund it cou:

I've got one in 6.8. Will use for deer, maybe elk or moose this next year. It's not a Blaser, but here's my last target at 100.

Note that my friend hung the target upside down, and I was sighting for 2 inches high on this rifle, so its right in the zone. As well, that's with a 1.25 - 4 scope. I was doing better when I had a 2-7 on it.

Hope that helps.

The ergonomics of the XCR are excellent though. A lot of fun to shoot. I actually find it more fun than my Tavor, but that might be because I intrinsically know .223 don't hunt.... (at least in saskatchewan) :D

In fact, it's so fun to shoot... Look what happened to my rifle... it was re-appropriated by the Commander in Chief!!!

Now I never get it when she's around!!!

IMHO the Remington ACR and the FN SCAR are going to eat the XCRs slice of the pie here in Canada (when they are classed as non restricted).

You better have a lot of milk on hand, because at the prices they will be asking for the SCAR and ACR that will be one tough piece of pie you are going to be choking down. :p

I like mine it shoots pretty decently.

10 shots at 100m (Aimpoint 2 MOA sight - non magnified)

It isn't a boltgun (got plenty of those) but it is plenty accurate. I wouldn't mind trying some optics as I think I could shrink the groups if I had some magnification. ArmedSask - the XCR may shoot only as well as your 1000k AR-180b but at the end of the day you still have an AR180b :)

Under $1000 in the US, NOT in Canada...in the bare bones SUB-2000 is over $650 then the SU will DEF be over $1000...espcially with all the "extras" it has in that photo.

Maybe re-think the restricted / non restricted bit and solve all your concerns by getting a quality LMT / Knights Arm. or like rig in a piston model. I have a DI LMT MRP CQB defender model that is flawless in every way I've tested it so far and the fit and finish really couldn't be better.

See Questar link above.

Doesn't the AR-180b have a tendency to break at the front hinge? Leaving you with a useless, impossible to repair plastic receiver that is no longer made?

If Armalite ever starts producing the all-metal 180 then a cost effective varmint rifle will exist. If they offer the rifle in more than one calibers like the 6.8 for example, then there is now a deer rifle. Some people just like the semi-autos to hunt with and there is nothing wrong with that at all.
