STI Trojan 6.0 Whaddya know?

I am close to buying a new Trojan 6.0 (long-slide) pistol in 9mm. Before committing $1500+ dollars, I would like to hear from anyone who has used such a fire arm (good and especially, bad points).

I chose this pistol based upon price, long-slide 1911 (sight span), 9mm (affordability of ammo & recoil) and the sterling reputation that STI pistols have garnered in various forums.

If you know of any pitfalls of the Trojan 6.0, I would like to hear'em.

Hi,

I own three STI Pistols - 5" Trojan in 9mm, and two 4.15" Ranger II's in .40 S&W and .45 ACP. I also own quite a few other pistols (Beretta, Glock, S&W, Sig Sauer, CZ, etc.) but I can honestly say the STI pistols are the best ones as far as accuracy out of the box, reliability and warranty service are concerned.

The 6" Trojan with its 6" fully-supported, bushing barrel and slide will certainly provide you with outstanding accuracy. This is a great gun for IPSC standard division and I guarantee you won't be disappointed with its performance.
 
Many thanks for that, LapusLazui. Of the options available at purchase time (see http://www.freedomventures.ca/documents/PricingR.pdf ) do you consider any of'em to be MUST HAVE ? Have you found that stock equipment on your STIs is OK, but that you have upgraded items (e.g. grips, sights, etc.) after some use?
 
I have a 5inch Trojan 45 and I have been very happy with it.It needed a bit of a breaking in period as it was quite tight,but now it is one of my most accurate and reliable guns.STIs are beautifully made and finished and the dealers give great backup service(I bought mine from freedom ventures).I actually took mine out to the range yesterday and I always enjoy shooting it

If you are looking for a gun for purely range use,you really dont need to do anything to it.I replaced the plastic mainspring housing for aesthetic reasons,and replaced the slim grips with standard grips as I have large hands.

If you are looking for a gun for IPSC however,there are more appropriate ones than a 6 inch Trojan in 9mm

Hi,

The only options I added were a Dawson FO front sight and extended/bevelled mag well. I have poor vision at 65 even with glasses and the FO front sight helps me pick up this sight a little quicker.

You really don't need to add these options to the stock pistol as the gun points naturally and the standard size grips are fine if you have medium to large size hands. If you have small hands, I would suggest getting the "fatter" or thick grips at no extra cost. Also, the felt and actual recoil on the 6" Trojan will be hardly noticeable.:)

Good words from both of you. I am not an IPSC'er nor a reloader AND I am almost a "Senior". The Trojan 6.0 seems to fill-the-bill for my needs, and your endorsements seals-the-deal in my mind.

IPSC Standard Division still has a test where a pistol with the magazine inserted must fit into a box of a proscribed size, and a 6" Trojan won't fit in the box. (It could be used in Open Division.)
