Hello everyone,
I have a brand new M&P 9Pro, and a brand new Gen3 Glock 17 that I took out to the range for the first time on Saturday. Filling up a 10 round mag for the Glock, and sliding it into the gun with the slide already dropped took very little force, and it clicks in nicely...I rack the slide, and away I go. Now the M&P on the other hand is quite different. If I have a full 10 round mag, and the slide has already been dropped, I have to slam that mag in with a considerable amount of force to get it to catch and stay in the gun. Not hitting it with enough force causes the magazine to stick out of the bottom of the mag well by roughly a centimeter, indicating that it hasn't fully engaged, or entered into the mag well. If I take one round out, such that I have a 9 round magazine, it takes considerably less force than a full 10 round magazine to completely engage the magazine in the mag well.
Is this indeed normal behavior for an M&P? Does it normally take such a hard 'slamming' to engage a full 10 round magazine in the M&P, whereas the Glock takes relatively little force?
Thanks everyone,
Cal.
