I have a 300 win. mag. BAR mark 2 safari with boss.
My manual says 2.5 but on the browning site it says 3....
Which one should i start with?
Dont want to waste a bunch of ammo.. so any help would be great..

my sweet spot is 1.5 with 180gr, accubond bullet ..[300wsm] i used about 3 boxes of bullets to find the sweet spot ...i shot groups of 3 to adjust the boss ..make shure that the boss is tight after each adjustment ..also make sure u have a good rest for the rifle ,i used sand bags and don't hold the front stock ... with the boss the barrel doesn't lift up ..

When I did own a BOSS equipped rifle,I discovered that it took me as many rounds to tune the BOSS as it normally takes me to develop a load. That is just one reason that I will never own another rifle equipped with the BOSS.

your all seriously complaining about how many shots it takes to zero it in, sounds like you dont like to shoot, or spent time gettin comfortable with a new gun. with my boss i started at the "sweet spot' listed and went 1/4 turn for 2 turns each direction. book said 2 i ended up gettin beter groups at 3.75. who cares how many bullets it takes to find it,do you have anything else ou would rather do then shoot your gun?? wouldn't you rather find it yourself then use something someone else said is best.

I shoot my rifles far more than the average shooter, but I would rather spend my shooting time developing a proper handload, than tuning the BOSS.

to each his own, i just found it nice for a change to load up to near max and spend a day turning the boss to get tighter groups then backing off the load to get beter groups, i bought a mag so i could get the speed, but as i said to each his own

So 3500fps with a 140gr bullet out of a 7mmstw while shooting sub 1/2" groups isn't fast enough for you?How about 3380fps with a 180gr bullet out of a 300RUM,again shooting sub 1/2" groups?Neither rifle wore a BOSS.But to each his own.:D

Well put wildcat, hold your ground !

I love the BOSS system but only own one rifle with it a M70 Laredo in 300WM.
Barrel tuning devices are available from other custom makers and yes they all require tuning, they can squuze the very last ounce of accuracy out of a barrel and even make that STW into a 1/4" gun with a little patience!;)
