TAC PRO currently manufactures this popular cheek rest:

We have had some requests for a similar cheek rest that can be attached without drilling the stock.

The strap-on (no, not the one you're thinking of) cheek rest will likely have pre-set height positions at .625", 1", 1.25 and 1.5" and retail for approximately $59.95.

Would anyone buy one of these?
What is your opinion on strap-on vs bolt-on?
Has the requirement for drilling the stock prevented you from purchasing a proper cheek rest?

Thanks for your opinion.

Do you have any pics of a prototype? Or drawings? I saw something like that on anothe site looked cool but it only came in set heights. If you could make one that offered some sort of adjustability I would take a stab at one.

With whatever strapping system comes with a plain kydex cheekpiece, height adjustment can be as simple as getting shims to fit in between. This can be done through neoprene/mouse pad pieces trimmed to shape or more extensive in the form of shaped, clip-in kydex shims.

I also plan on purchasing the bolt-on version when my M305 finally arrives... (January, February... March?)

Personally, I like the idea of solid mounting, even if it does mean permanent modification.

I can see the appeal of soft strap on cheek rests, but I'd have to see a hard one to make a call... seems like it would be difficult to get it on rigidly...
