In the OP's statement
Although i would like a long distance scope it would be used more for scouting the feilds

In the OP's statement

So..?? I use mine for glassing gophers,coyotes,deer..man a person says scouting..next thing you know guys are jumping and talking about glassing people..f..k..here they are in orange suits..why would you do that.

schmit and bender ......#1 ....but it depends on how much you wanna spend....they are all good scopes....I have them all Kahales ....swaroski....and zesis....and to me S@B is the best........

Sorry guys, thought a reminder about muzzle safety wouldn't hurt. looks like it offended a few.

Hate stepping on toes. Over and out.

NF is signifcantly heavier than hunting optics being considered, is it not? I wouldn't use one on hunting rig although they meet the criteria, but would use a swarovski.

Man cannot stress enough that a scope is NOT to be used as a glassing device. Witnessed a fellow watch other hunters through his scope with a round in the chamber, called it quits right then and there. Will not tolerate someone pointing a gun at others much less loaded. The fart new better too. you will remember that hunter that was shot in Alberta last year, his friend gutted him at 300 yards, that guy did work for me. the guy that died. Needless senseless loss of life. Buy good binos and a cheaper scope if you have to, but don't lift your rifle until you are sure that its pointing at the animal you are going to legally shoot and you are certain if you miss you know where that dang bullet is going. sorry for the rant, it just can't be stressed enough

Not to sound insensitive to your story, but avoiding a shooting accident is no justification for buying a cheap scope.

A guy should very well have a great set of binoculars AND a great scope, if he can afford it. Money is never poorly spent when it's spent on something great. The waisted money was spent on the junk people upgrade from.

I think leupold dropped there LPS series scopes, I compared my 2.5 to 10x 50mm 30mm tube LPS to a swarro this fall out hunting, 3 or 4 fellow hunters tried both and It was 50 50 on which one was better. both good scopes
