looks like the dove season is year round along with everything else except for red stag and fallow.

There was a huge post on ARfcom awhile back about Dove hunting over there. One guy shot over 5000 birds in one day. Talked alot about where to go and avoiding the bad areas and getting robbed in the hills.

That is an insane number of birds for one guy, one day. It took me 2 boxes of shells to hit my first one. Our party of 7 (5 experienced shooters) dumped an estimated 500-700 birds in 2 days, with about a 1 in 6 hit ratio. And I couldn't believe the number of doves that were flying.
But this was in Bolivia, and do-it-ourselves. Definitely do the dove hunt if you can. I can't imagine what a good ranch would be like.

The pictures he postd the air was very dense and thick with them. There were local kids who picked them all up and they got eaten and counted.

The doves are exactly the same as our native mournig doves. They are looked at as agricultural pests and are shot and poisoned by the millions.

Shooters pay by boxes of shells fired and each has his personal "bird boy" who keeps track of number of boxes fired by folding each MT box carefully for final tally. Gun rental is extra and not cheap as well.

Most dead birds are collected and it is said that they go to feed the hungry. Personally I feel the lions share is simply "bushed" as there is just too many for any group to eat.

Meals at resorts are first rate as is the booze and lodging. Most clients are wealthy Americans and some Europeans as well. With the U.S. and European economies being in a depressed state, many are not travelling. Some good deals are out there if one wants to partake.

Funny, for all I've heard of doves being one of the hardest targets I actually found them easy to hit. My partner was shooting about the same as me; about 75%. Neither of us consider ourselves scattergunners. What's up with that?

Even a blind mouse gets cheese once in a while...:p

Myself I would divide this time in half, dove hunting and boar hunting.
Best of both worlds IMHO.

I like this idea! :D
