its been like that for a while. if you purchased a leup scope in the states you could not have it fixed in Canada.

Fine. How about all the scopes that have been sold over the last hundred years or so. The company has been around since 1907. If you have a scope that you bought 10 years ago and the erector fails. You bought it with a lifetime guarantee. Now you have to prove that you bought it from an authorized dealer or there is no warranty.

Why ask that here?
While I suspect you will get a lot of "opinions", the only accurate answer is from Leupold.

I suggest you ask Leupold.

The new policy only covers scopes made after a certain date, so the old ones will be covered.

Just bought a leupy

I had read all this info on Leup scopes. Anyway I got thinking about it, came to the conclusion that I could/should buy one from the merchant that gave me the best deal. SOMETHING LIKE FREEDOM OF SPEACH! Sooo did my homework and bought one from the USofA paid all extra's and still saved a few bucks. Don't know why merchants in Canada cannot or won't compete!!!!

Sooo, did you get an export permit from the US DOS sand an import permit from DFAIT?

Way to not support Canadian dealers for the sake of "a few bucks". And WTF does this have to do with Freedom of Speech? :slap:

Well said. Someone illegally imports a scope and they complains how there should be better pricing in Canada. Now that price might not look so good when they want to get it fixed!

So this mean that when we see Leupold for sale in Canada we need to check the Leupold web site to verify if the dealer is authorised?

Or if they are being sold can authorisation be taken as read?

I wont be buying another Leupold scope. Still have a Mark 4 that I dont use. After putting 2 Nightforce scopes on rifles there is no comparison and will never go back. Leupold has been around forever and afaik they still don't offer milrad adjustments with a mil reticle, or offer a moa reticle in conjunction with their moa adjustments. A mil reticle with moa adjustments is so backwards in my opinion but thats just me.

If I buy a scope made by Leupold, and they don't honour the warranty, what happened to the money that was paid to Leupold for their warranty? Seems to me this is a matter between Korth and Leupold and is being taken out on the Canadian public. Leupold needs to properly pay Korth for its warrant work and there wouldn't be this problem. If that's really not the problem or intent, then its just about sales.

Not illegally imported!!!!!!

Hey Morpheus 32, because a scope is bought in the USofA doesn't mean it is "illegally imported" all taxes, duty& paperwork were paid/done, and Leupold will honour the warranty. Also this "supporting CANADIAN merchants" is a double edged sword; when the purchasing field is levelled I will certainly buy and SUPPORT CANADIAN MERCHANTS.

I couldn't agree more, supporting Canadian Dealers is fine but if I can buy the same item legally with the required documents elsewhere I will get it where it costs me less. I am not Donald Trump and don't have money to throw away, maybe some do and for those of you who do, fill your boots.
