Sightron 8-32x56 or Leupold mk 4 8.5-25x50...

I would go Sightron over the Mk. 4. Don't get me wrong, I love Leupold and use them, but for F-Class you really want 1/8 MOA clicks and target type reticles. You also want as much magnification as you can. Again, I use and love an 8.5-25X50 VXIII but if you're shopping, I'd go for more power. The Mk4 is more of a tactical scope and they lack the really fine target dot reticles preferred by F-CLass shooters.

FWIW, the Mk4's fetch a pretty penny; you could flip it for a NF :D

Not sure if I understand your post correctly.. are you saying the sightron comes with 1/8MOA clicks?

10-50 = 1/8 min clicks. Great scope for F class

8-32 = 1/4 min clicks. Can be used very nicely for F class too. A number of reticles to choose from

Correct me if it sounds like I am verbally jacking off, but isn't the main purpose of having the choice of reticles to be able to hold-over more precisely once you are dialed in about where you want to be?

Depends on your application.

Mildot and picket fence reticles are wonderful for field shooting where you need to quickly adjust for winds and distance and may not have time or desire to dial. They give you more reference points when there may be no other option by your target.

The reticle can also help you determine how much to dial by comparing the impact relative to your POA.

For paper punching, we have that wonderful target with lines and markings we can use to aim at. All of these markings are set and the distances precisely known.

so you can use your spotter to adj and/or hold off depending on your style and the intensity of the condition changes.

Some will prefer to dial and want to aim center - for them the dot works great.

Others, like myself, want to hold off and use the target as a 'grid'. We will dial if there is a constant change but usually just drive around the target as conditions dictate.

Either works so you choose whatever reticle fits you best...

I took my 32x Sightron and put it next to a friend's 32x Night force... it's true what people say... the optics are identical...

Both scopes could read the small print on the bottom of the target paper... fantastic... both of them... now compare price...

The sightron is dead on repeatable too... the dots on the mildot reticle are little far apart for my liking... but I'm very happy with the scope regardless...

That's why I like the TMR or NP-R1,2 type reticles. I will dial in when wind/mirage changes are constant and hold dead center. When conditions change rapidly and shooting in pairs or threes for F-Class, holdover really comes into play. Dialing windage 5 minutes to right then 9 minutes left per shot gets old soon.
Connaught range can bring a man to tears at times. ;)
