What mags /magwell for SVI 2011 in standard class?

you can cut down a 140 mm to a 126 mm

that's what i did a year ago
it takes about a 30 min each

you need a propane torch
welders vice grip
dremel cutting tool and buffing tools
a file

you cut the front and back of the mag to the lenght of 126mm making it square
then you heat the side of the mag until cherry red (the remaining part of the 140 mm )
then you bend it 90 degree
after you cut off the excess and trim to desired lenght until the base pads fits
clean out the stainless with Brasso and polished to desired brightness

i have done like 20 mags for a couple of people and they work really well and they did not cracked at all

hope this helps.....more

Thanks for the suggestion Phil. You have clearly never seen my metalworking skills. If I were to follow your instructions I guarantee I would be successful in converting all my functional 140s into a heap of non functioning 126's in very short order.

I will sell the 140s and buy new mags.

Sell your 140's in the states and get yourself mags that work for your gun ie sv 126. If you invested money in getting svi 140mm mags back then for your sv, then there is a reason why you chose sv mags over sti. Think of it this way, it's like a guy buying knock off rims and tires for his Ferrari and expecting to get the same performance, it'll never happen! Your gun is designed to run with sv mags! If you think going for sit mags will save you money is completely wrong! Most people who go that root with their sv's end up buying svi mags anyways so at that point you just wasted lot of time and money for nothing. Stick with things that work and not things that might work....

I have two Infinity pistols, new with steel grip and have been using STI mags pinned to 10 for last 3 years on old SVI pistol w/plastic grip and now on one with steel grip.
........(lots cut) .......

Stay away from Rescomp mags with steel grip, they are excellent mags but fit only into plastic grip.

What sort of problems did you have with Rescomp mags in your SVI with steel grip? I ask because I have not noticed any problems, but maybe I am not looking for the problem you have identified.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Prairieguy. There was no bad intention behind it...just blame Phil as usual:D

As for the original question, I think this says it all:

I just got an SVI Standard gun myself and I'm in the process of purchasing SVI mags as well. I'd rather invest a little bit more at the beginning and not having to worry after than getting something slightly cheaper and investing more after to make it work. Save yourself some headaches and just get the SV mags. You won't regret it!
