Cougar 18.5 semi

What about filling the extension with 2 part epoxy to the point 5 shells will only fit?

Then you would have to take the extension off to clean/service the tube. It's a little easier if you just take the cap off.

Why not just weld a +1 length of tube to the cap? It would still give the proper lenght 4+1+1, but would be legal even to the biggest dummy as the tube would still only take 4+1.

Overall what were your thoughts on this firearm? Outside of the above noted issue?

i was supprised at how well it was made, being a semi auto i figgered it would have alot of rought edges on the working parts of the gas system.
the finished is smoth but of course not very strong, should be parkerised or gun painted.
the butstock and pad i think are quite good.
finish on the forend is nice but inside has me worried, its hand finished with rough hand tools to fit. Allso has a thin layer of fiberglass on the bottom to hold it together as the wood if very thin.
sights are nice.
And again not talking about the issue with the fact it comes with a +2 mag tube, but just the fact is not a very good set up.
Your going to have to loc-tite eveything to make sure it does not fly off.
3 pc mag tube with no barrle clamp is not a very good idea.
But i think the guns a winner.

Can anyone shed light if it's drilled/tapped for a rail in the receiver ?
it is tapped but not for any standard scope rail.
allso withthe GR sight on top not enought room to put a rail up front and install an optic.
so you would have to remove the GR sight, find a chunk or rail and drill holes in it as per the holes that are on the Cougar.
So a trip to the gunsmith for most people.

Gave her a complete cleaning & re oiling Then took her out again. Way better, Only 1 FTE, right in the beginning in 50 rds. Great gun to shoot, smooth & low recoil, impressed once again! Love some synthetic furniture, next run maybe?

Make sure you clean out the heavy storage grease from the works. It hardens up in the cold and effects reliability.

Yeah that was the first thing I did to my tube fed grizzly. Stripped the whole thing and poured boiling water to melt the grease off. Made a huge mess but no more slimy stuff on it.

So it has a 5 round tube, what if you use those little tiny 12g shells you can get more than five.

The CFC when transfering a shotgun, ask the capacity of the firearm "using the longest shell stamped on the barrel".

That means they accept that in a semi-auto shotgun that takes 2 3/4 and 3 inch, the magazine can't accept a sixth round of 3 inch ammo.

Have they ever submitted this interpretation in writing? I'd love to be able to extend the magazine of my 3.5" chambered semi to be able to hold 5 rounds of 3.5". I've seen this interpretation floating around CGN but was under the impression it was was merely an interpretation by members.
